I'm wondering if that will happen now.

The windows are being manufactured. They still have 2 months to get them in.

That would be great if they could be done by mid October or so.

which is plenty of time if they actually are working on it like you say. They've had since december to start. I'm sure there is a reason for waiting until the last minute but it just seems strange to me.

Shut the F up.

You haven't lived until you've lived inside the stadium and heard Mike IV roar all night in heat while the guys from New Orleans were listening to heavy drum music.

I'm okay with them updating the windows. Plenty of my North Stadium brothers would say the same.

Hard for a guy with a duck for a mascot to relate to having a live tiger ... who actually got out of the cage during my time living in Tiger Stadium.

I imagine the asbestos removal process takes 3 times longer than actually physically putting the windows up. I've seen them do it on other constuction sites and it's a long, tedious process.

I don't know exactly what they're having to do with this project, but I thought that I heard they had to remove asbestos first - as a part of the whole new window process.

incorrect. as long as there is no asbestos caulking connecting the windows to the structure, the old windows can be removed whole, wrapped, and disposed of at landfill that accepts asbestos waste

I wish the would paint the stadium grey, maybe not this dark, but to make it look more uniform.

LSU didn't have the money until late last football season. They finished the first few windows just before the start of last season and those were a sample to raise money for the rest of them. So assuming they had the money raised by December, they still had to have bid documents put together, advertise the job for a month, open bids, then contract with the state (at least another month). If they had a contract by May 1st, then less than 3 months to make 500 windows is reasonable. It won't take long to put them in.

No paint. Too much upkeep. I like the way the stadium looks on the outside. When you're close to it you can just feel that shite's about to go down inside.

Canon Tiger, when were you a resident in N. Stadium. I was there in 1982. I have both fond and frigid memories of the place as the roll out windows in my room wouldn't close all the way and in the winter we almost froze to death. I remember stuffing towels in the cracks to reduce the North wind entering the room. I also remember they wouldn't crank up the steam plant until there were a certain number of days in a row with low temps, which almost never happened therefore steam radiator heat in the rooms was sporadic at best. Oh, those were the days.

All 428 Windows Have Been Funded!
Through the years the exterior of Tiger Stadium has fallen into disrepair, as many of the dormitory windows that cover the outside of the stadium are cracked, rusted and broken. That is why the Tiger Athletic Foundation started a campaign this fall to preserve Death Valley.

As of Monday, November 1, LSU fans have made pledges to repair all 428 windows!

In recognition of their $2,000 contribution the donors' names will be permanently displayed along the outside of the stadium. Any extra donations received will be placed in a Tiger Stadium maintenance reserve account for future endeavors in the project.
