Nobody in the student section sits...
If they removed the seats in the student section, nobody would really notice, except in non-conference games and blowouts.

Some old man sitting behind me just might get popped in the jaw if he tries calling the marshals on me.
Being an “old man”, that might just be worth it because I would then have the pleasure of:
1. Introducing your balls to the roof of your mouth,
2. and, making sure that you never set foot in Tiger Stadium again.
Now, bottle up your testosterone and save it for some really fancy high school prom.

On that note. I'm going to bed. Nicely done.

What do ya'll think now that this is an official LSU policy?
It's a racist policy. Everyone knows only white people stand during games.

damn, nothing about the wave in this policy . That shite needs to be banned retroactively . Especially when it is done with the Tigahs on O .

The Best Post, worth reading all this to read it.

If the Defense is on the field...your arse needs to be standing.
Timeouts, Breaks at the Quarter, halftime...all permisable times to take a seat.
I don't care how much you paid for your seat...STAND UP and Cheer for your Tigers, or give you ticket to someone who cares more than you.
If you're too old and too lazy to stand up, give up your tickets. The rest of us would like a spot in Tiger Stadium.

I agree... one year at Bama I was sitting in the lower portion of the NEZ b/4 the upper skyzone was built. He was an LSU fan but old and kept bitching that we were standing to watch the game... which you needed to see across the field from our seat. He tried to say they came so many miles from Baton Rouge or wherever to see this game blah blah blah... he was about 60. I said well I paid the same amount as you and I drove from BR, what gives you the right to say I have to sit down b/c you're old and lazy. We won, enough said and no marshalls made me sit down.... I will never abide by this law even if I had to b/c everybody in my section doesn't care if I stand and my neighbor ticket holder is a lawyer.... but anyway you could almost argue in court against your personal rights if you were kicked out b/c you wouldn't sit down. If I were I lawyer that would be a great case to prove how standing during a game is grounds for being kicked out of the stadium you paid good money too... drunk or not.

I stand up when it's necessary to stand up. Touchdowns, first downs, big defensive plays, etc. I've been going to games in Tiger Stadium for 16 years, and normally unless something significant is happening on the field, the majority of the stadium is seated (except for the student section, of course). It's stupid to say that people who don't stand for every down the entire game aren't "true" fans.

i dont mind it.
ive never had a problem with people in front of me standing, and no one has ever had aproblem with me standing.
but i do it at appropriate times.
if a big play happens, i jump up. if not, i sit and sip my "beverage"

If we don't sit sometimes, the wave will suck

You try to pull that "spank emoticon" on me in real life and I'll fricking kill you.

No reason to stand the whole time and that is what this is talking about. Common courtesy.
bullshite. This is obviously NOT what this is about. There is no reason to make a policy statement on common courtesy. If you want courtesy, just say, "please be courteous." This is about giving marshals more power to enforce the whiny, bitching complaints of people who feel it is their God-given right to never have to stand to watch a play before the ball snaps.
Read it again:
quote:
POLICY:
LSU encourages fans to be courteous of other fans in
choosing to stand during games. Spontaneous reaction
to plays or significant events is expected and encouraged.
Continued standing during game action when
other fans are sitting is discouraged and will be
addressed by game marshals if complaints from other
fans are reasonable and continuous.
REASON:
Common courtesy dictates that fans should not block
the view of other fans who are seated during game
action.
Now I know that my family has had Row K season tickets for over 50 years, and some old douche bags behind me continually complain all season long about me standing up when I do it almost as little as I often can (but I'm sure as hell not going to sit down when people in the rows in front of me are standing).
I do admit to wanting to stand just before seeing most LSU third down plays on offense, and a lot of plays on defense. So what? I'm SUPPOSED to fricking stand.
This new statement will have the effect of giving the bitchiest fans in Tiger Stadium even more reason to run and complain to mommy--err, I mean marshals--who already have a tough enough job as it is dealing with stupid arse complainers.
This is not Purdue University. This is Tiger Stadium. frick y'all.

I do agree with being courteous to others during the game, but I think it is crappy on sitters' behalf to try and hold me back. An LSU football game is a savage event, not a Chicago Cubs day game. It is not a classroom and it is not church. I don't go to the games to sit back and be entertained, I go to be an integral part of what's going on. Sitting is not an option.
= FREEDOM

Do you understand that they are not going to kick you out if 4 rows of fans are standing in front of you and you stand to watch and then the guy behind you complains? It doesn't work that way. Again, the only people who this will affect will be those who find themselves standing by themselves and repeatedly ignoring the requests of those around them to sit.

If you aren't standing and screaming when LSU is on defense, what are you doing at the game?
Tiger Stadium is not as loud as it used to be
I dont know about you guys but when I stand it is perfectly............SILENT.
Sit down, and yell your freaking arse off.

What's the difference in not allowing smoking in the stands? Your "rights" only extend so far. Nobody in this entire dialogue has said you shouldn't stand during the game at some point. But if you bought a "seat" so you can stand, then save your money or go stand in the tunnel.
