your post had relevance 20 yrs ago. the domers are now held accountable to more than mid-west/catholic challenged newspaper polls. yes, they have an advantage with their own network. yes, they have an advantage with the sweetheart deal with the bullshite bcs...but they will have to continue to win, on the field, or they will return to the recent decade long obscurity they so richly deserved.

Notre Dame hasn't done shite to LSU outside of the Gunner Kiel situation. The hate for ND on here is incredibly confusing and pointless.

I've come to the conclusion that it is just cool to hate ND.

I haven't been able to be here in a while.

Every once in a while, lately, I get the chance to come here and read a little, but I haven't had the time to participate.

But THIS . . .

This is absolute heresy, and it must be corrected.

Since LSU's not in it, I don't really care, much, which SEC team plays for the crystal -- although I would have liked to see the Bulldogs beat the Gumps.

But to actually hope that Notre Dame wins -- ever -- (even against the hated Gumps) is . . . OBSCENE.

For those Tiger fans who are too young to remember:

All I got from those links is that Tiger Nation has been complaining about refs for >40 years.

See LSU v. USC 1979 and you'll get the same thing.

Haze don't be a dumbass. Bama is our competition. Why cheer for your competition? We don't play the media or Notre Dame. We play and recruit Alabama.

Besides it doesn't really matter which team any of us pull for.

Go put on your Tide snuggle and enjoy the game.

I'm going to do my best to ignore it and hope ND finds a way to win. But Bama will most likely destroy them.

And of course the best way to make it better is add ND for competition....

LSU already has weak ties to north LA, and Catholicism is strongest in south LA.

Yes, that will end well.

LSU has weak ties to North Louisiana? Uhh....do I need to rattle off tons of current and former LSU Tigers from Northern LA?

I'm sure Notre Dame's strong Catholic tradition will be the tipping point in all of the top recruits. Wake the freak up. Look at their current roster. The Irish do not have 1 player on their roster from Louisiana.

I saw nd flags n multiple houses in nola for the 06 sugar bowl. Nd has plenty of fans every where and some of them are lsu fans.

Who cares? I went to LSU, not to the SEC. If Bama wins they will talk about Bama's dominance They get t o gravy train on the SEC while playing all the scrub SEC teams.

There really isn't a difference in recruiting pitch between saying "played for the past 3 out of 4" and "won three out of the past 4.

Yes, a little. Winning 3 in 4 is historic. Only one other team has done that.

By your logic, just being there is all the matters in recruiting, so whether ND wins or not it won't matter. But ND is not real threat to LSU for La recruits. ND recruits nationally. In their hey day, when LSU was down they did not recruit as well as Bama is now in La. ND recruits the MW, NE and Calf, but even if they did come in and steal a La recruit, it's much better to lose recruits to a team we never play than one we play every year genius. Joe McKnight never made a play against LSU. Eddie Lacy and Kenny Bell have.

wait, wut? No La is very pro LSU in recruiting, its the So, particularly NOLA where we've had to fight and not usually catholics.

LSU got screwed by the polls and media, hence the revenge game when LSU upset the Irish in Tiger Stadium

Blame the Cotton Bowl for this.

Bama's best team got denied a national championship by because Notre Damn TIED Michigan State

This was a good Bama team. Not great.

Fast forward to the late 70's. Another Bama team screwed when #5 Notre Dame beat Earl Campbell and Texas to vault to the national championship while Bama clobbered Ohio State in the Sugar Bowl.

You can say the same thing about LSU vaulting all teh way to # 2 in the BCS standings in '07.

Blame the Cotton Bowl. Not ND.

ND has ZERO AND I MEAN ZERO shot at beating Bama. This will be a rout in the same way that Nebraska beat FLA in '96.TOTAL DESTRUCTION.

There are always complaints about zebras, not just from Tiger Nation, but from everybody, everywhere and at all times.

But the circumstances of THIS bogus call have always been special.

This was in an era before the rise of the SEC as the premier football conference in the nation.

Southern football had near-zero respect -- and those zebras were NOT going to allow a bunch of ignorant crackers to embarrass the [then] darling of the college football world, by playing them to a (horrors!) TIE.

For those who are too young to have lived through it, the indifference to ND is understandable, and perhaps even forgivable.

But for those of us who are old enough, the operant phrase is, "NEVER forget; NEVER forgive".

Let it go paw paw. We dont compete against ND year in and year out. ND winning has little to no effect on LSU/recruiting. Whereas, we compete against the gumps every year and ANOTHER win by them does NOTHING good for LSU. Recruiting in the the division is about to be the hardest its ever been with bama establishing themselves and a&m coming in to our west. Bama will already have the best resume and we dont need them adding to it.

Get it?

Im sorry Notre Dame rustled your jimmies 40 years ago. Its irrelevant now.
