That is the problem with the 3rd base position, it is all mental. At some point these guys either need to step up or ride the bench. Mainieri has given countless opportunities to the "platooned 3rd baseman" and not one of them has stepped up. Mainieri does not have enough pieces of the puzzle to make a switch like he did last year with Nola. If I were Mainieri I would put Edwards in their to at least reap the rewards with his bat. He can't do any worse defensively than Delatte, Dozar, Didier and Koenaman.
