If you consider pitching part of defense, then yes.

If you don't, then they are the worst defensive team.

What? Mississippi State is ranked higher in pretty much every offensive statistic in conference play than South Carolina is.

Arkansas is one the best defensive teams?

Literally 14 out of 14 in conference defense.

Yeah, but the Bulldogs were sort of slumping back when we played them. They have a better offense now I think.

EDIT: And the Cocks have been known to get cocky and take the first half of the season off. It tends to happen when you've been to the CWS CS as often as they have recently. Teams like that can dial it up later in the season when they need to.

They were slumping because our Friday and Saturday starters are both dominant pitchers. Mississippi State and Kentucky had the best offenses in the conference heading into SEC play.

Their OOC was absolutely atrocious, and they had just lost their last 2 games against Central Arkansas. Yes, they scored some runs in one midweek game against USM, but I think the 12 runs they scored in 3 games against Central Arkie outweighs that in terms of showing what level they were at.

After scoring 17 runs against the Tigers, they followed that up with only 13 against Kentucky, losing the last 2 games against the Wildcats 3-2 and 4-3. And then they only scored 9 runs against Arkie the next weekend.

MSU really didn't dial up their offense until just the past couple of weeks.

You might want to go re check your stats on that one. They did lose 2 games to Central Arkansas. That doesn' mean their offense was atrocious for the other 18 non conference games they played. They scored 10, 13, 14, 16, 17 runs in 5 of the other 18 games besides the 2 losses you just mentioned. They had one of the highest averages in the conferences dude. They are batting .298 as a team for the whole season and are hitting .269 in conference play. That should tell you something.

Holy shite, man. Look at who they played.

This is exactly why I hate OOC stats.

I was under the impression that 7-1 with a 2.56 and a mid 90's fastball for a pitcher that projects as a first round draft pick was dominant.

No shite. You're the one trying to argue with me that their offense wasn't ranked statiscally high. You said they just got the bats going. Jesus. You are wrong. Their OOC numbers were good. Does that make them as potent as the Atlanta Braves? No. But you said they weren't any good on offense when we played them.

Out of starting pitchers in the SEC, Eades is ranked #14 in terms of ERA in conference games. Good, but I hate people throwing out the "dominant" word when there are so many other pitchers out there on the same level.
