There are no mulligans in elite college football. Put up or shut up every year.

I will give him a mulligan for everything other than not getting rid of Pelini if he doesn’t vastly and incredibly improve the defense by years end. No matter what he’ll have next year. However, if he chooses not to get rid of Pelini and we stink it up again next year on defense, just like Gerry and Professor Lou, they can both get the f*ck out of Baton Rouge.

Didn't realize we paid guys top pay($2,300,300-Bo) to just "get their shite together."

Explain to me how that whole process works out. Do we give him a raise then since next year he will magically have it all figured out being that he isn't required to do his job this year.

The effect is hitting recruiting already. The 2021 class sets up future wins and this crap is already effecting us there.

You boomers are so soft on Pelini, but were so quick to trounce on Aranda for having a bad d on games we won last year. Aranda will be a NFL defensive coordinator in a few years and Pelini will be back in Youngstown.

correct. I don't think Alabama, Clemson, Ohio State, etc. are just fine and dandy with a "mulligan year." They expect to excel every year.

Does it always happen? Of course not. But you shouldn't just shrug your shoulders and say "oh well, mulligan year." You should expect greatness every year.

And we're talking about losing to Miss State and Missouri - two dog teams.

Mizzou was a fluke and we should've won inside the 1 with less than a minute but I agree we should've never lost to these 2 teams...still can't discount what we lost from last year. Losing that much I never thought we would be one of the elite teams this year.

If nothing changes on defense, sticking by Pelini is the kind of thing that gets you fired.

Dave had a full cupboard as evidenced by how many of those guys are in the league. pelini has much less to work with especially at LB and safety.

it's nowhere close to a fluke when we give up 45 points. A fluke is losing 7-3 in a monsoon.

And even so, it's MISSOURI. No matter how much talent we lost from 2019, we shouldn't lose to MISSOURI.

We might make a bowl, but it won't be solid and it will be because the NCAA removed the 6 win threshold restriction

Check out the offensive stats on the year -

Mississippi State

Vs. LSU: 632 yards, 8.3 YPP, 44 points
Vs. Arky: 275 yards, 4.2 YPP, 14 points
Vs. UK: 295 yards, 3.5 YPP, 2 points
Vs. A&M: 325 yards, 5.7 YPP, 14 points

They have averaged 298 yards and 10 points per game outside of LSU and LSU gave them 632 yards and 44 fricking points.

Missouri

Vs. Bama: 414 yards, 6.1 YPP, 19 points
Vs. Tenn: 344 yards, 5.5 YPP, 12 points
Vs. LSU: 470 yards, 7.0 YPP, 45 points
Vs. UK: 145 yards, 4.0 YPP, 20 points

They have averaged 301 yards and 17 points per game outside of LSU and LSU gave them 470 yards and 45 fricking points.

This is truly an historically bad defense. We are FAR too talented to be this bad. I don't care about youth/inexperience. Does anyone truly think we'd be even CLOSE to this bad if Aranda was still here? Absofrickinglutely not.

Well for one there would have been continuity in the defense scheme the players wouldnt be playing in a new system. So it is not an apples to apples comparison at all.

Pellini sucks.

They’ll be lucky to win another game.

He absolutely needs to be fired.
