This upcoming 2020 team compared to our 2004 and 2008 team?

How do y’all think this upcoming team compares to our past teams coming off of a NC? I know we lost a good bit to the draft this year, but seems like we lost more those years in experience and senior leadership.

Myles Brennan will be 10x's the qb we had in either of those seasons following a natty win.

Because of suspensions and injuries there is a lot of returning players with a couple two or three SEC starts and substantial rotational plays.
The 2019 freshman class was strong. Our incoming freshman are even stronger.
The team probably has better talent on paper at this point than we did last year. Clearly not as much experience.
We will not be installing an offense. We will practicing and adding to the offense.
Defense will probably be better. Our key SEC opponents had figured out Aranda.
How well do we develop Brennan? Do the players have the same offseason commitment?
We are not breaking in a freshman QB or a player clearly not ready... Brennan is a far better answer than Marcus Randall in 2004 and or Andrew Hatch/Jarrett Lee in 2008.
Brennan knows the offense. The receivers know Brennan. Just a much better situation.
Price and Emery are very talented backs that can go toe to toe with Najee Harris and the other best backs in the SEC as well
Will be a very interesting year.

About the same to me with tons of losses for all 3 but I do believe we are better equipped to withstand them this time. Still a lot of questions/concerns.
Can Brennan be good enough to not lose games? All he has to do is be one of those pre Tua Bama and that manages, doesn't make big mistakes and gets the ball to the playmakers. Can he?
Can the OL continue to be consistently strong?
The DEs. We really don't know what we are looking like here. Most of the returning kids don't really fit the 4-3 and the 2 edge rushing commits are sized for only situational pass rushing at this point. Moffit really needs to do a job with those kids this off-season
If those 3 things work out to solid then we should be fine.

As long as our top 2 returning QBs don’t get hurt or suspended then we shouldn’t be as bad as that 2008 team

2004...LSU went 9-3... What year did Jamarcus fully take over?

2004 was the Jamarcus / Marcus Randall duo season. Jamarcus was too erratic to win the job. Randall was no superstar but had several quality performances (e.g., @ Florida; @ Arkansas). That team was loaded defensively, but could not overcome inconsistent offensive play, coupled with the Saban to NFL constant distraction.
2008 was the poorest LSU QB unit in the modern era (rivaled only by 2014 Anthony Jennings) due to the Perrilloux disaster.
Unless Brennan gets hurt, the 2020 team should be far superior offensively to 2004 and 2008. Probably not as good defensively as those teams.

I have a sneaking suspicion Brennan is going to be a lot better than Marcus Randall and Jarret Lee
As a result. We should be pretty good

Not sure that is fair to 2004 until after we see how next year turns out. It may end up being the case but there was lots of young talent on that squad (Russell and Flynn as RS freshmen) and Randal was a senior with more experience than Brennan going into that season.

It was also arguably a mixed extra point and hail mary (Or putting Russel in the game in the 3rd rather than the 4th quarter) away from 11-1.

This 2020 edition is far more talented than those other two teams were. Not to mention that those two other teams also had very serious problems at QB.

I remember several offensive players complaining that Marcus Randall got so nervous at times in the ball games that they couldn't even understand the play he was calling cause he was stuttering so bad.
