A solid win here will propel us into the Florida game and the second half of the year on a good note. The fanbase will breathe a little easier and the team will have some momentum. I'm not saying we beat Florida, but I do think we have a shot and at the very least will be competitive. We will then be set up for the second half to go undefeated or with one loss to an alabama/auburn/ole miss which is completely acceptable.

A loss here, especially a blow out, will have just the opposite effect. It will bring us into a Florida game where we will be down and will likely get killed. This will set us up for something similar to last year. The team will quit on Miles in the second half. The team could drop as many as 4 more games and the fan base will call for his head.

Thats why this game is a must win or a heart breaking loss where we are competitive for 4 quarters.

I think pretty much everyone believes this.

Whether Tebow plays or doesn't, winning this game gives us something in the area of a 45% chance to beat Florida. Losing it gives us about a 5% chance.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure the Bama loss just deflated the team so much last year. UGA could be that kind of game, but who knows.

Win = confidence boost for team and fans heading into Fla.

When was the last time you can think of where LSU quit before the game was over? This would be a major setback for the program, say a pre-2000 set back.

I'd be sad to see the Tigers lose their fight.

Deflated is an enormous under-appreciation for what happened. Save the largest come-from-behind win in LSU history, we don't win a single game after Bama beats us.

I agree. And there's really no telling what is going to happen Saturday.

If they play sloppy and lose that starts a 3 game skid IMO and the team may quit on him again. This game could truly be the beginning of the end for Miles.

Exactly, and if you look at the schedule

georgia
florida
auburn
tulane
alabama

you gotta think we beat tulane and likely lose to one of alabama/florida.
that leaves you 3 games undecided which with a win/loss over georgia could really be difference in going 4-1, 3-2 or 1-4, 2-3

I agree, but it bothers me that I agree. I don't understand why players at a program such as LSU's would give up on the remainder of the season because of one loss. When he coached here, Saban referred to it as the "catastrophe syndrome" that exists at LSU. He is right.

Because of the opponent, I understand that some games have a larger magnitude to them, but at the end of the day, it is still only one game and no excuse for going in the tank if the result is a loss.

I suppose this game will be the litmus test for Miles future at LSU, but it should not be. The coaches and players should have enough pride to bounce back even if they lose on Saturday.

I left out the last three games bc I think they are totally dependent on the next 5. If we come in 1-4 over these next 5 then we could possibly lose all 3. Thats how important I think this stretch is for Miles and the future of the program.

How about the Ole Miss game last year?

like that hasn't started already with the moron elite here on the rant?
I seriously doubt the team "quit on Miles" last year even with the heartbreak of losing to a Bama team it outplayed. A team of quitters would have mailed it in against GaTech...and that clearly didn't happen.

We had a month to regroup for Georgia Tech. If you dont think what happened post Alabama was quiting then please tell me what it was. That team just wanted the season to be over with plain and simple. I remember Beckwith walking off the field crying calling some members gutless. I think its safe to say that the team quit on Miles towards the end of the season last year.

No.

We can lose this game and lose to Florida, win the west, win the SEC and possibly win the NCG. So no, this isn't a must win for our season.

Now that that is out of the way, can you morons please not meltdown Saturday like our season is over?

Lets take away the "must win" rhetoric and focus on the fact it is a HUUUUUGGGGEE game. With all of the "overrated" talk about LSU, a loss to UGA would be devastating. If you try to argue otherwise, you're the most optimistic LSU fan on earth. And on the flip side, a win (especially convincing win) could possibly propel LSU to great things..who knows? But the psyche of athletes is delicate....this is definately a very very important game to lay the groundwork for the goals that LSU might have.

We lose to GA. and in about 10 days we go from the #4 team in the country to completely out the top 25. That would be bruttle.

Raz....If we lose to Georgia there is no way we beat Alabama and Ole Miss and Auburn and Arkansas. Maybe 2 maybe 3 but not all 4. Sorry, I wish I could say differently but its not going to happen.

And yes I do get that our season is not technically "over" if we lose this game, I was just pointing out that when the season is over we could very well look back at this game and view as the turning point good or bad.
