Who's fault is it that Les is perceived that way?

Did 1/9 erase all of that from history?

Sadly, yes. It was an epic beat down and a global embarrassment. We couldn't even cross the 50 yard line until the 3rd quarter IIRC.

I have to disagree with you. One bad game does not erase everything else. You be embarassed if you want to, but earlier in that season we accomplished something very few other schools have acheived, and I am proud of it- and I am proud to have Coach Miles coaching our team.

Hey, I agree. But, Les cares about PLAYERS and defends them and tries to help and redeem those who screw it all up. So, he can eat grass, fumble the english language, call bad plays and all that. He takes care of the players and still wins games. He will always be an 'target' for some. I support him (and still laugh at what he says).

Exactly!

A great coach = talented players... no way around it

Saban has a roster full of 4 and 5 star guys

You don't think he left the NFL realizing he was stuck winning 55% of his games with a lousy QB and could not change it anytime soon?

I agree, they cannot research anything anymore, credibility out the window and you cannot hold them accountable because nobody cares how someone cherry picks info and regurgitates it as long as the majority are appeased.

I agree these are his good qualities and are admirable.

But then he does this, and he doesn't have to, it's a choice. He thinks he's being cute doing it so the media in turn take shots at him. Just don't do it, be a serious and thoughtful coach, and you could be a legend, not a fricking buffoon. Who wants that for themselves?

Could also be bc les has made more boneheaded statements and moves than any other prominent coach

It's called "coach speak" for a reason. Miles has more fun with it than most, but every single coach spends their press conferences hemming and hawing and avoiding giving actual information.

Belichick, Saban, Carrol, Meyer, Sean Payton, the Harbaughs, all of these guys sound like broken record playing an uninformative song in virtually every interview they give.

Miles just enjoys the process more than those other guys. Belichick and Saban look like they want to skin reporters alive during their pressers, and reporters are intimidated by that.

Miles isn't like that, so they think they can get away with making fun of him without repercussions, which they take advantage of constantly.

What is a constant source of monumental amazement to me is this:
Why in the everloving phuck does it MATTTTTTTER
how Miles speaks to the media ??????????????????

Do people not realize that he speaks TOTALLY DIFFERENT to his players and coaches at practice, on the sidelines at games, and in the locker room ????????????????????????

Does the manner in which Miles speaks to the media determine what numbers are on the scoreboard every week?

Also, the OP had it right - if Miles wins with "talent alone", then what do Saban, Meyer,
Richt, Muschamp, Fisher, Brown, Pelini, Stoops, Spurrier, Kiffin, Sumlin, etc. win with ????????
Smoke and mirrors ??????????

Sounds about right.

For example, when other coaches are talking about the upcoming season, how practice is going etc., Les tweets that it's time to go home and catch the season premiere of Duck Dynasty.

He does it to himself. Don't get mad at the media for making him out to be a dumbass.

Why?

When you lead the BCS and SEC in wins for the last eight years, you can be who the frick you want to be.

quote:

not a fricking buffoon.

The only buffoon around is you and the other clowns like you who are not smart enough understand that results in sports is the only thing that counts and the Miles results place him in the top 3-5 level for all coaches since 2005.

You call the man names and he keeps on banking millions while compiling a record of achievement at LSU that will be almost impossible for another coach to ever equal.

The buffoon is you, clown.

Good post, but this is nothing new. This has been going on since 2005,really.

Herbstriet, for all of the 2007 'to Michigan' stuff has respect for Les and LSU, and like him or not, he's in the top 5 of college football pundits.

Don't let it bother you or you will go nuts this season.

In all fairness, please understand that Miles brings much of those aforementioned snickers you mentioned on himself, as his command of the English language isn't what you'd call a white knuckled death grip. He says and does goofy shite.

Sig worthy.

In all seriousness, sometimes I listen to his interviews and PC's and come away with more questions than answers. I still have yet to figure out if he's a genius or an imbecile.

With that said, I'm more worried about wins and losses than his goofiness. It's hard to argue his success here.
