The reason we fired Miles was to accomplish those things. If O doesn't, then it is a failure.
Coach O may keep us relevant, but so did Miles. Why fire him if we have the same expectations?

I was fairly supportive of an underachieving football team. mainly because I feared alleva being the man to replace the most important coach for our school.
He performed just as I expected. We didn't need an ad to make that hire.

Truth is the admins should be banned for picking and choosing the "insiders" information they allowed to stay up when all of it was false. They are as much to blame as anyone else for the divisive feelings on here right now. They played this worse than anyone else.

What did coach o do this year that makes y'all think the sky is falling? That what I want to know? He lost to bama and beat the shite out of FL all day it was TOs at KEY moments that held us back. Some of the RZ play calling could have been different but it was still a fun game to watch and so was the bama game. Every other game was an arse kicking of epic proportions and we have one more bowl game to see what they can do. I think he will get the right people here as well as upgrade our recruiting and have LSU playing as a team. The man knows enough about X&O that he would know a good game plan from a shitty one. He's not clueless like some of you idiots seem to believe. Give the man a chance he's been coaching FB for a while the man knows how to organize and works his tail off. We will be much better off with him then Miles and look how long Miles was here. I can't wait to see what he does with this team myself. I'm giving him his fair chance.

My heartburn is with Joe Alleva and his total lack of executive skills. He fired Miles 2 months ago, supposedly giving LSU a headstart on hiring a head coach. As far as I can tell, he used that 2 months to play pocket pool. Where was the fricking search?
Sure, O's time at OM was a disaster and most coaches have one tenure they'd like to forget but they've learned from it and wound up taking a HC position somewhere to rebuild themselves. He really hasn't done that and maybe it's because he was ok with being on someone else's staff. All pundits like to bring up a body of work and he doesn't really have a strong body of work. Actually, doesn't have one at all as a HC. It doesn't mean he's a bad coach, he just never took that leap again after getting his ego bruised at OM.
I'm reserving my opinion of how this will play out until the team takes the field next year and by seeing how he builds his staff.
