THAT IS MY COUSIN MIKE! in the tiger suit. He passed away a few years ago, but he used to tell this story every thanksgiving.
He walked up to Bear and told him that LSU was going to kick his arse.
Bear leaned off the goalpost, looked down at LSU warming up on the other end of the field, leaned back on the goalpost pad and shook his head and said "not today son."
That story is famous in our family.
ETA: OP, where did you find this picture????

That was big Mark Jeffers. He played Mike for quite a few years, I believe... late 70's, early 80's.
Wrong.
He was one of 3 guys who played Mike The Tiger over this time period. They alternated games. This particular picture is my cousin Mike. This picture was framed and placed in his casket at his funeral. I haven't seen it again since then.

I notice the colors in your hat are the same as the colors the Refs have- a little obvious don't you think?

To bad you are not around "Bear". Because we are going to eat the flesh off of this 2011 Tide football team.
Leaving nothing behind but the cleanly picked bones of what was once your team. Our LSU football program is as good as it gets. And we are now walking tall with the tigers. So "see ya don't want to be yeah."

Bear, have you ever tasted the grass at Tiger Stadium?

A friend of mine was the mascot for a few years (this could actually be him in the picture) and he told me that one game he walked up to THE BEAR who was leaning against the goal post during warmups and proclaimed "WE'RE GONNA KICK YOUR arse - BEAR".
At that time, THE BEAR stood up, looked over his shoulder at the other end of the field where the LSU players were warming up and replied" You're gonna need some help"
My friend just turned and walked away.

I got the pic when "the family" passed it around, and made a post on here, not realizing this one existed. Small world.
So, which cousin is this?

LOL....fair enough. See you then. If you do a youtube search for "bear bryant legacy", there's something called the Legacy lives, or similar. That has film footage from this day.

Bear Bryant: "This is beautiful...what is that...Velvet?"
Mike: "Why the hell does Legion Field in 1982 look just like the South Endzone at Tiger Stadium?"
