There were 8 baseball seasons between 2000 and 2009. It's been 8 seasons since 2009.

If LSU doesn't win the national championship this season it'll be the longest championship drought since they won their first in 1991. Thanks, Paul.

The longest drought was 1947 to 1990.

it was all down hill after Les was a NC runner up. Hope Paul doesn’t have the same fate as that

That's why I said since. And LSU didn't have a championship culture back then.

Who, just like Les, lost to an SEC team.

lol I love a good early-season baseball melt.

Hopefully Texas comes here and kicks our arse next week so I can continue to be entertained

Afraid that was his chance before another 8 years and another chance occurs. PM said himself last year that it is just hard to win in baseball

It's definitely harder than it was in the early 90s. Paul's resume really speaks for itself. I do wonder how long he plans to coach. He is 60.

This is an great example of how warped our sports culture is that 2 coaches that actually won national titles are vilified because that’s not good enough.

I feel like baseball accomplishments should be seen more in light of the ncaa basketball tourney. How sweet sixteens, elite eights, etc.

lol he just got them to the natty last year

Kansas hasn't won a Nat'l title in basketball in 10 years, I guess they should fire Bill Self too.

You people are ridiculous.

Actually, they should. Statue of limitations is narrowing rapidly these days. That title for KU was 10 years ago. Not to mention, look at last years disgusting exit from the tournament. People always associate KU with choking. Maybe it is time for a change in Lawrence.

Skip retired around the same age. I would think he's one of the oldest in the SEC. I think he's a good coach just saying I really hate the idea of hiring someone after him.

College Baseball is a different game. The fact that as a program LSU has maintained a level of play worthy of an expected trip to the CWS each season and the years we don't make it there are the outlier anomoly type of seasons is more than amazing. LSU is the far and away standard for college Baseball excellence. Skip won five titles when winning a championship was relatively easy compared to today's game. Bats we're juiced...the pitching was far below the importance it is today. They were runner up and should've won it last season...Obviously this team will struggle some at first. But by conference play will round out into a top 15 or 10 type team. This is an off year by all reason...
