Since all of you are entitled to park for free (what an outrage to have to pay!!!) just send me your bill, I will pay it, only 9 of the other 11 sec schools charge and you people should NOT have to pay because you are sooo special.

For those of you upset by the way it is working, I agree, LSU could do better, but will give the A Dept a few games to get it right, I have all along thought a season pass ( igave had one for 11 years and pay for it) was better, but contrary to most ranters, I know the A Dept is not a bunch of idiots, they will work the kinks out.
BTW for those who went to Dallas, it cost $40-125 to park there...and other than starkvegas, try to park on ANY SEC campus for free....

this is only partially true, at all other away games I have been to I could park in some grass lot not far from the stadium for $10 or $20. I have been to every SEC stadium except Vandy had have never had a problem finding a free place to park, and at most have only paid $10 or $20 and usually it is some boy scouts or non-profit group running it. (This was another reason I was so upset when they were initially going to charge $20 for the freaking Hayfield lot)

I have NEVER paid any money to a university employee in some sort of set up system at any other SEC venue

Even at Jerry World I paid $30 and was not far from the stadium...this $40 price point PLUS $50 for a trailer is just insane

I have...and if it wasnt free, it was only $10 and $20 max

actually dallas cost 30 to park pretty close by the stadium and i think the pass lots were 35

If LSU was smart they would lower the price to meet demand nsu game should be cheap parking now when uf or bama comes to town 40 might work.

The answer as to why they do it is simple math.
$40X20,000*=$800,000 X 6 home games= $5,400,000.00

*20,000 cars just my guess

we park and tailgate on the corner of highland and stadium right alongside the building. Our lot is normally full by noon. this game it was less than 20% full, and we had 4 cars parked in it. I walked through campus at about 11 to pick up my tickets at the ticket office and it was very quiet on the way to the stadium. sure there were people out, but all the parking lots werent bumping like they normally were.

Maybe for the whole season, but from talking to people and walking around, I suspect the loots were only 60% full when they stopped selling the passes.
I know my lot was 20% full.

All the stories I've heard was that you could get pretty close to the stadium for $20-$30.

Look, I've come to grips with the fact that we have to pay to play but $40 is a bit much. And if you're dead set on that amount then at least allow me to buy a season pass. I'm not sure how it will go the rest of the year but for the first game there were more empty spaces and less tailgaters then any game in recent memory in the interior of campus. Maybe that's LSU's intent, who knows, but I have a feeling this thing will become a whole different animal for a 2:30 Florida game.

If you think that people that like to park for free feel entitled to it, what do you call the people who feel that they own a piece of public land and have the right to move someone's shite who got to that spot first before them?

The NFL has long ago abandoned the fan and rendered them little more than an unappreciated source of revenue. Now it looks as it the officials at LSU have taken the same myopic view of the school's supporters.

This is a business boys. Get your 4 friends together and each put up the $10 it will take to park. Pound 4 more beers at the tailgate after the game so you don't have to drink so much at Walk Ons afterwards.

4 People X 2 Drinks each instead of 4= 8 drinks
8 drinks X $5 each (with tip) = $40

BOOM THERE YOU GO!

I understand that LSU is only doing what every other big school has been doing for years.
The problem here is that compared to every other big school, the surrounding economy doesn't support it. This is not a rich area that can easily drop $40 as if it was a cigarette butt.

Unfortunately the stupid asses in the administration who make decisions don't understand that.

I have a feeling the big games will pack the parking lots. It would be nice if people would boycott the parking lots but they wont after a while. LSU corporate greed will be rewarded and parking is here to stay. Its the new American way.
Look at it from the LSU business perspective. Currently they have all these parking lots at are paid for in full. They can charge people to park in their lots with minimal new investment and minimal overhead. The bottom line is the only thing they are thinking about.
I do wonder where the money goes. Does it go to the general fund since the university owns the parking lots or does it go to the athletic program which sells the tickets.

Apparently the fee ran off the group that tailgates around the corner of the building from us, so I'm all for it.

It was nice not having to deal with a bunch of filthy, drunken idiots stumbling through and around our tailgate to piss behind our vehicles or in the bushes 30 feet from our setup because they are too drunk and lazy to walk 100 yards to the bathroom.

My group parks in Ceba (which is pre-paid passes only) and there were quite a few open spots. And these are people who pay every year to park there, so I'm gonna assume that a lot of the empty parking had to do with people just not going to the game.

As far as the paid parking in other areas, LSU should offer a season pass at a discounted rate (maybe $25 per game with an additional trailer pass for 25 more) and then have the $40 gameday pass available to people. It would eliminate some of the confusion and cluster-frick of everyone going to pick up their passes and give a discount option for the long-term crews.
