Yeah, I seem to be in the minority to think it is probably a plus for LSU to play for the SEC title.
To me, the SEC Championship is more important. You can look at my post history, I have been saying this for the last 6 years. The SEC is all that we can control, the rest is a popularity contest.

Why do you keep leaving out the fact that they would win their conference if they beat Oklahoma? The fact that you keep doing this shows that you know bama doesn't deserve to play us again.
Yes, they will win their conference. And if they win their respective games, so will Houston, Michigan State, and frickin' UCLA. Whoopty-doo. It's an inferior conference.

Obviously a Alabama fan who just registered to try to make a case.
They Lost to the #1 team in front of 100,000 + Alabama fans, lets move on.

Let's say Ryan baker or TM or JJ or any key player breaks an ankle against UGA...still a win-win?
Winning the SEC title? Yes it is. The SEC title is a real title, while the BCS game will always be arguable and is not even recognized as an NCAA title.

Nit that you had any credibility before, but you just lost any that you might have had.

It's like this.... we do all of the work, get the SEC title, which is a great thing and here's Bama doing nothing and even after our game in Atlanta, they're still on the same level as us?
I'm not insinuating they should automatically be considered a less than team, they are one of the best teams out there but one we already have beaten. But LSU does all the work, gets the SEC trophy and just by doing nothing Bama is still right there.
That's wrong.

How about if the two best teams already played? That is the point most people are missing or pretend to be missing.

Yep, the game Nov. 5th was for dominance in the SEC. LSU won, and gained the upper hand for the conference title.

It did. LSU wins the SEC West, and hopefully the SEC title next week. It mattered a lot. Helluva lot.
Not as far as the BCS is concerned.

Nope. They are not SEC or SEC West champions. LSU will be. Real titles. The BCS isn't even recognized as an NCAA title.

Did you read the first page of this thread?

I don't get the argument that Bama get's to "skip" anything. They don't win two titles that LSU does.
So is it better to have those two titles versus getting the crystal IF Bama were to win it? I gotta say that if LSU had a choice of winning the NCG or being West Div &/or SEC champs...I'd prefer the crystal.

BCS is concerned with rankings, not conference champions. The Nov. 5th tame mattered, the BCS is something completely separate though.

So then why ''let'' Bama go? A great team, no doubt, but when all is said and done they didn't win the division or the conference.

I don't think anyone is beating LSU in N.O.

Do you honestly think 10-1 in the Big12 with a loss against Iowa State in overtime is a better resume than 11-1 in the SEC with a loss to LSU in overtime? You can't possibly think that.
Yes, most of SEC teams suck this year; Big12 is a stronger conference.

Alabama will not win the SEC title. They had a chance to secure their spot in the division and compete for the title, and they failed. LSU (or maybe Georgia, but probably not) will be recognized as SEC Champions for 2011 and then that will be in the books. Congratulations to them on an outstanding accomplishment. Bama, Georgia, Arkansas, and the other SEC teams will regret not seizing their opportunities to capture this incredible title that means so much to all fans in the SEC.
Then the regular season and conference championship season ends, and an entirely different entity takes control: the BCS. Like it or not, the BCS is not concerned with conference championships, division titles, and so on. It is charged with matching the two best teams in the country in a national championship game. And the two best teams in the country are LSU and Bama.

LSU, arguably would have beat both at the end of the year. But didn't deserve to be there.
we had 2 losses, we may have been a better team but we didnt deserve to be there. we lost to auburn who finished third in the west, if we took care of business maybe it woulda been different but we were not desserving to play in the championship game.
and georgia was not the 2nd best team that year we were better and oh st was better. georgia may have been the hottest team, but werent the 2nd best.plus tenn beat georgia 35-14 that year so they weren't deserving to play in the sec championship game.

Exactly. I'm a Bama fan, but I don't post much on the SEC rant so I'll be honest. I've heard all my life how winning the SEC is the goal. Why do you care if you play us? We'll never get full credit if we win, and ya'll will be undisputed SEC champs either way. You've already won. I'm against a rematch because we have nothing to gain(no one will take our NC seriously) and a lot to lose(I would hate to lose twice to one team, especially Auburn or LSU).
You guys should WANT to play us. We're in a no win situation. We lose either way. We'll get you next year, it's not our season.
