Lol right becuase the sound of 100,000+ screaming "suck that tiger dick, bitch" was way more appropriate back in those days... Get over it and live in the now.

it's the ambiance of Tiger Stadium that is so different now..I grew up on Coach Charlie Mac's football when Red's "Tiger Bait" yell resounded through the stadium, Mike the Tiger met the opposing team as they entered the field, when the night air smelled like bourbon and when tickets were so hard to get you had to know somebody who knew somebody in order to purchase an extra ticket...yes the good ole days...now not so much...very corporate, expensive, pat downs (when did drinking in Tiger Stadium not become a rite of passage),day games out the arse, and tv timeouts ad nauseam...not to mention the piped in music...are you kidding me...Coach Bill Arnsparger '84-'86 had it going on for sure...hitting on all cylinders...with that said I still love me some Tigers on Saturday night in Tiger Stadium regardless of the changes we've had to endure...

College football simply got too big. The money got too big, and what fans were asked to do got too big.

Oh, I was right there pumping money in for the longest time, hoping my TAF number would go up, but it always went down. Now I go to maybe 3 games a year. It has changed, but for the worse.

One of the reasons why beng a Cajun fan is so enjoyable to me.
I grew up ( like most kids in LA) an LSU fan, going to every game, living and dying on every first down and pitch. The outcome of one game would literally make or break my week.
As I've grown up, I've discovered that sports, to me, is much more enjoyable when wins and loses don't mean as much.

Beating Tennessee in the SEC championship with a backup qb was pretty awesome also.

Interesting how LSU's done that twice.

I think you are on the right track, just missing the root by a bit. I think it was more fun when message boards didn't exist.

You didn't hear the constant bitching about the coach or game year round. You were happy to make it to the s.e.c. championship, you recognized that was a good season, if you won great. However, now if you make it to the n.c. game and lose. you have an entire year of bitching how the coach should be fired.

I don't think it's the success. I think it's giving a voice to the negative people. We didn't have to listen or put up with them before.

Agree.

Like a lot of the posters I miss the ambience of the old days, but I like winning too. Things change. It's just gotten so corporate now, especially the past decade.
