Both of those players graduated from their previous school. That’s how it should be done instead of guys picking a new team every year.

The portal itself isn’t necessarily bad it’s the unlimited transfers allowed that’s the problem.

Fifth, the portal makes every years team different from previous years teams. That makes pre-season rankings moot and increases unpredictability. Variety makes the game more fun to watch.

You sir sound like a former athlete. I'm up vote 11.

Not without pay ceilings and some other things to regulate the insanity.

Thanks for your opinion. Mine is that every village has its idiot and your village claims you.

Would you people quit claiming Joe Burrow was a transfer portal player. Joe came to LSU as a graduate transfer before the portal ever existed.

Loyalty does not exist in American life any more. Husbands and wives are not faithful and loyal to each other. Employers fire workers who want to stick with them and work hard and workers leave employers who are good to them . Coaches lie to players to recruit them and players are now lying to coaches to leave them. Nobody cares about anybody else but themselves....So why even assume loyalty.

Speak for yourself. There is plenty of loyalty left in relationships, business, and elsewhere if you know where to look.

Loyalty in business is different though. Obviously that’s still a transactional relationship but loyalty means doing what you can to be fair and treating people with respect, then giving them enough time to find a landing spot if you do have to downsize.

No it does not promote quitting. When an athlete chooses to enter the portal, he says he will look elsewhere for opportunities. Quitting is when an athlete leaves the sport.

Coaches, from head coaches down to position coaches move every year. They make business decisions. Why can't players?

If you say it is about education.....then you are deeply wrong as education and amateurism ended a long time ago when coaching salaries hit the million dollar mark, tickets became barely affordable to the common person and 100 million dollar media contracts were offered.

College football has been a business for a long time. Athletes were the only amateurs who got punished for just about everything...now they are getting real opportunities to play for whomever they want whenever they want.

It's amazing how we had college football for like 140 plus years without the transfer portal and were fine.

College football was fine and will be even better. More opportunity for student athletes to showcase their talents, more parity will make games more interesting (i.e., georgia v georgia tech, vandy v alabama ) and it will allow teams to rebuild faster and compete.

Smart coaches will emerge who will manage their rosters and their players to achieve better.

Everyone wins!

Of course, some programs with sub par coaches will get exposed due to poor roster management.

Transfer portal will be moot soon. Players will sign contracts and be bound by them. As it should be, stop this madness.

If you think the slow death of college football is a good thing.

How is a fan going to have allegiance to a team when you can't know the names of the players from one season to another. Hell, one week to another.

Human emotions will grow tired of following the sport.

Schools will be bound by them too… no one says anything when a guy goes to LSU, doesn’t do anything, and they want to process him. The transfer portal helps facilitate that too
