Get out of the dumbass zone blocking schemes. These guys were taught their entire lives how to run block but we try to run zone scheme but it’s not working. It would also help if backs would hit the holes the plays are designed to hit instead of trying to cut everything back.

McElroy illustrated multiple times during SELA game where Durham cut back and was stoned and the hole the play was designed for was wide arse open.

Not that they were great last season but when Dellinger got hurt then Frazier, an inexperienced and HORRIBLE Chester, led to the 3 game losing streak. It started at the end of the first half with the Dellinger injury. Mubenga wasn’t ready and Chester, oh boy. You have to have all 5 working in unison with sound technique. Neither of those things are happening in the run game.
The center is the key and like another poster stated he was hurt right away despite not missing games. They already had a continuity issue that needed to be overcome.
Davis is the issue as well as the scheme.

Zone blocking is difficult.

What I found funny this year occurred last week. While we had trouble against SELA making room, when we ran a QB sneak, we blew their DL 5 yards off the ball twice. What that tells me is they are not aggressive in thier blocking technique.

This tracks with the reports in fall camp of the o-linemen holding their own in 1 on 1 drills but struggling in live team drills.

I expected some struggles early as these guys needed time together. But you have to have a confidence in what your are doing as a unit to fire off confidently and aggressively. If the staff can't get them there pretty soon I see no other direction to point the finger at the staff. Now whether it's scheme (Sloane) or coaching (Davis) or the two not meshing or whatever, need to find a way to figure it out.

Doesn't have to be great just respectable.

I will say toward the end of the year last year - Vandy, Oklahoma and Baylor we ran the ball better but we can't wait that long to get it together this year.

We have an OL full of 4 and 5 Star Kardell Thomas types that over powered their competition in High School, but are totally "In over Their Heads" both mentally and physically at LSU. Then add the coaching ineptness of "Sylvester" Davis and you've got one big massive shiteshow that's being over seen and approved by Brian Kelly.

You sound like a racist, a fricktard, and a generally stupid LSU fan. Or maybe a fake LSU fan. If you’re that fricking miserable, just get off the board a-hole and stop watching LSU football.

Plenty of blame to go around. Let’s start at the top and get new coaching. I hate the Les Miles approach to keep the game close and then with a little luck and maybe superior players we win late . That don’t cut it in the SEC. BK gotta go.
And the line play, well it don’t exist. Can’t run block and can’t pass block! Better have a running QB. Oh, we gave one but chose not to play him.
Ok we back to the coaching!
Nuss is not the problem, ok, I agree but when he doesn’t give you the best chance to win you have to sit him.

Tiger1988: I agree but CBK is ultimate responsible for the staff and the players recruited. CBK is the problem.
