Again, I'm not saying I'm for or against the sale of alcohol in the stadium, I'm merely pointing out that when we say its an SEC rule, well, we might be wrong.

what did they say?

They talked about how the upper decks are not part of the actual stadium. They are not attached structurally and because TAF leases the boxes and suites then "leases" them out during the season they could get around the SEC rules as long as they didn't go overboard.

This was brought up b/c my boss was hired out of the North Eastern US to oversee the construction and we were reviewing construction documents and were curious how they were getting away with having bars installed.

See link above I couldn't find anything official from the SEC but that has an overview of conferences and their alcohol sales.

Yes but I worked for TAF through college and I worked on the stadium expansion and they went through this in several meetings.

Just b/c he said something doesn't mean he's 100% correct. If they would sell alcohol in the stadium don't you think they would make a lot more money? I don't think that a few fights would deter them from selling beer.

So, what you're saying, is that Herb Vincent doesn't have his facts straight?

yes, that's not official, all it says is "No SEC schools sell alcohol"

that tells us nothing

So if you are rich or have connections to get into a suite it is ok to drink if you are a regular fan you are not allowed. Sounds about right...

Plus on top of all that - you can correct me if I'm wrong but the school does not sell the alcohol per cup. I think it comes with the catering in the suites and on the west side is included in your tickets/seat dues?

It's been a while I've been out of school for 5yrs.

How many times have you heard of them getting in fights and/or causing any problems?

I'm saying he probably responded to a question on the spot and didn't have all of his facts straight but b/c he learned from some of the best (I forget who the last Assistant AD was) he answered a question very eloquently and sounded very professional and correct but didn't really know the answer.

I don't think I'd drink as much before the game if I knew I had alcohol available during the game either?

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that this topic has been brought up to Herb NUMEROUS amounts of times.

How could he not have his facts straight?

you are missing some details it appears.

baton rouge does not want to be like new orleans, even if it makes the city more attractive to visitors and tourists.

I'm gullible for believing Herb Vincent, LSU Associate Vice Chancellor, over BAMBAM from The Rant?
