I've rewatched most of the game. While Mett's accuracy at times was ridiculously good, he showed more flaws than I first thought.
Now, I'm definitely happy with his overall performance, but he did almost get a pick in the red zone in the 2nd half. Should have thrown it away and not tried to force it. He also should have helped the RBs identify the DB blitzes on those 2 sacks, but I'm being nitpicky.
Point is, he did very well, but has things to improve upon.

Everyone needs to pump the brakes a bit on ZM. He did show improvement; alot of improvement, but he is still staring down receivers, not going through his progressions, and his vision is suspect. LSU's receivers made good plays and he mad a lot of NFL throws, but he continually underthrew the deep ball and threw into double and triple coverage. ODB's long drop and no one mentions the play where two receivers were there and no one knew who he was throwing to are examples. More effective use of checkdowns would definitely have brought the TE and backs into play more (which everyone is calling for). He has improved but has a very long way to go. Pocket presence and vision are where he needs the most work (24/7 football in the pros could help this). He is still having issues with the biltz pickup, audibles, and he could easily slide for a 1st down instead of running to the sideline. He made smart decisions throwing the ball away, but overall a QB coach would critque his performance harsher than sports analysts. It is why his completion percentage was somewhat low, he needs more work.

Dude you are so wrong. First, mett was not staring receivers down, that's jarrett lee. Second, multiple times he threw to his second or third option. Third, we did target the TE in the redzone. Fourth, and my biggest pet peeve, we called three halfback screens that he had to correctly throw away.
Do you know why hb screens are a bad idea vs tcu? Cause they stack the box and would easily cover them. Open your eyes!

You need to read for understanding.

Nice retort. My four points were based on your post.
It's not worth arguing about I just don't see how some of the simple things in football escape most fans.

if you can make the play with your primary receiver, you don't need to go through your progressions. Most of your "progressions" are done at the line of scrimmage anyway. You should be able to predict which routes have the best probability of being open based on the defense. The QB does not drop back, progress through all the routes to see who's open then decide where to throw the ball. Typically what looks like "staring down" is when the QB's primary target is one on one and he knows he's going to make that throw regardless.

First pass of the game, 3rd play from scrimmage. Stares down a receiver on the right side of the field, pump fakes, throws dural open on the opposite side.
Duh duh duh duh GEAUX TIGERS aka first down.

I think I get what your saying. He did stare down receivers on a few plays, but not in the sense that he didn't go to his other options ever. More of the fact that he would let the safety come closer to making a play by looking at his first option from the snap of the ball. All elite QBs get the snap and will stare at the safety to freeze him or look to the opposite side of the feild to move him. I think thats where yalls miscommunication came from...
As for his draft stock, there was one play in the 3rd quarter I believe, where Met through about a 15 yard out route from the opposite hash mark to Boone... Thats like a 35 yard through for the QB, and he threw it on a rope perfectly in stride and where the DB cannot get it. That is a throw that only a few QBs in the entire NCAA can make. Thats a Sunday ball.

Im not 100% sold on Mett just yet.He looked quite a bit more confident than he did last year for the most part, but he had time to stand in the pocket and wasnt pressured all that much. The part I do like from the TCU game was his ball placement.(not the ones he threw to the ground).

I don't think the guy understood what I was saying. He has improved alot, but still has issues. His game wasn't perfect and he could have a clunker later on. The tools are there. A top draft pick I don't know; NFL is hard to predict, it only takes one team. He can make the throws, but he also puts too much air on his long ball and doesn't throw his guy open sometimes. The back shoulder throw was great and I thought I acknowledged that he did great things, but my point was with better awareness, he could be better, we could utilize more of the offense, and everyone would be happy. He stayed with his primary receiver wether single or double covered, alot. Secondary receivers had to be open in that instance. I think he made great strides from last year, but as I said a Coach would critique him harsher than an analyst and a fan.

I like Mett better than all SEC QB's named here . Only Manziels legs are better then what Mett has to offer
