what decline are you speaking of?..LSU has won one national championship...sice his departure and Saban has won nothing of the sort at Alabama...until he does that and he isn't assured of it this year either...I see no rise...they just suck less then they did...

Has anybody thought of all of the things that went wrong over the past two years?

We hired some guys at DC that weren't ready to be coordinators in a big time program. That is on Miles's shoulders. It was his fault. That problem has since been corrected.

Then he kicked off Perrilloux, leaving us with inexperience at QB. Debate all you want about the RP situation, but it happened, and now we have to go through the process of molding a QB. Last year, our QB lost us a lot of games, and threw 6 or 7 pick sixes in one year. Think about that! That has never happened in the history of college football. Once we get a capable QB, this "program in decline stuff" won't be an issue, because there is too much talent for LSU to be anything but competitive in the SEC Championship race.

has saban really recruited that well at bama? we don't know yet. it is a senior laden team. jones and ingram are the only 2 young studs so far. ingram is the real deal but jones only has 13 catches this year. heard on one of the talk shows 9 5th senoirs start and 5 other seniors.

1) STOP YELLING GUMP!!

2) You were not banged up on defense. You got rolled because your team thought the Utes would just drop their pants at the mere image of Alabama. You got punched in the fricking mouth by a team that had no business being on the field with y'all. Then your coach called out the fans. Yeah, it's going to be pretty when Bama has a down year.

Obviously things are not bad in BR. We are top 10 BCS school and loaded with talent for years to come.

However, I cannot help but feel that LSU is on the way down from the pinnacle and that Bama is on the way up.
What you are feeling is the absence of RP. No one can credibly argue that LSU would have had the same problems last year or this year if RP was playing. I'm not saying that RP should have been allowed to stay, I'm just saying that the misery that some LSU fans are experiencing would have never existed if RP had kept his shite together.

Only the delusional thought Saban would not do well at bama.

LSUs decline has nothing to do with bama or its coaches. It has everything to do with LSU and its coaches.

PERIOD.

Not trying to blame all of this on RP, but just me is right. The past two season are entirely different if we RP is here. A QB of his caliber can't be replace in one year.

Y'all are blaming our woes on a QB whom we dismissed from the team who only had two career starts under his belt?

Yes, and rightly so.

I think that it should be fairly obvious that RP would have performed much better than JL in 2008 and JJ in 2009.

Why would you not think so?

Les Miles had to have known that he was playing with fire when he signed RP. Taking that into account, why did he not sign a quarterback in 2006? How come our oldest quarterback was signed in 2007? I agree that JL and JJ weren't ready to start when they did, but there are plenty of young quarterbacks, both today an in the recent past, who were able to handle the pressure of starting young.

Please. LSU wins the NC in 2007, then goes 7-5. And this year, our offense is enough to make any logical football fan want to vomit. We barely beat a Georgia team that can't crack the top 25 (and probably won't for the rest of the season), and we lose to a #1 team at home whose QB just suffered a concussion. And you can't see how this would bring one to believe that we're on the decline? I'm not saying it's necessarily the case, but I'm certainly not saying it isn't, either.

People who say "there are tons of schools who would love to be in our position"--that's just a rose-colored glasses, bullshite way of looking at things. We're not other schools. We're LSU. We don't get to deal with the UCLA's, the Cal's, the Virginia Tech's or the Clemson's of college football. We play real ball. We shouldn't give a shite about how much Virginia Tech would love to have our talent.

Hoss...you have the capital letters lock on. Look, it is the key to the left of the A. Surely you know the letter A as it is the first letter of your team.

LSU is not in decline. You can't have the best team every year. Florida has Tebow and a very good coach. LSU got skull*ucked by RP. We are still in recovery at QB. Things will be fine.

LSU's issues have nothing to do with Alabama and Saban kicking arse. LSU is in the Top 10, nice placement, it's goals in front. The offense sucks though and that's the coaches fault. Miles better wake up or get out.

With OSU being the exception, we have not looked quite right since the VT game in 2007. We seemed to deteriorate as the 2007 season went on, but we at least took care of business in the national championship game. With the departure of RP, we are forced to play quarterbacks who had no business starting at the time. Top that off with the blunder of promoting Malloveto to Co-DC status. It is easy to see that the loss to Bama was the last straw. After that, we almost get routed by Troy, we get routed by Ole Miss, and our team seemingly took a dive against Arkansas. Somehow we salvage the bowl game, but it looks like we are falling into the same pattern again. While our defense has improved this year, it's not good enough to support the team with our anemic offense. Seeing as our defense has trouble getting off the field, our offense needs to make the most of each possession on the field in order for us to win games. Overall, our program has been on a downturn since last year definitely, but an argument could be made for the decline beginning in 2007 with Matt Flynn's high-ankle sprain and Early Doucet's groin injury.

The anti-miles contingent is so full of contradictions I don't even know where to begin.

Either Miles' 4-5 star recruits don't count because they aren't as good as Saban's 2-3 stars, or Miles isn't a good recruiter because he's redcruiting 2-3 stars instead of 4 stars. You guys are rediculous. Saban isn't better or worse at recruiting. Period.

Then you get to the X's and O's, and somehow Saban is a genius. Did anyone else see the Ole Miss game? Can't convert on a 3rd down in the red zone to save his life.

Big game coach? Miles has NEVER lost a bowl, and to my knowledge, LSU has never been the outright favorite, and an underdog the majority of bowl games that LSU has played in.

Yeah, Miles lost an SEC championship, but he also won one as well at LSU. Say that for Bama.

You guys are ridiculous.

The SEC West is sick good. I look for Florida to decline a bit and for BAMA, LSU, AU, Arky, and OM to be really competitive. I'd say BAMA and LSU will compete real hard to win the West each year --- like this one.

Easier said than done. Quality QB's don't grow on trees, and the fact that RP should have had two more years probably caused some to commit elsewhere.
