The righty vs righty matchup is a fugazi.

These kids grow up facing a RHP about 75% of the time between all levels. Just using common sense, at this point in their life a collegiate hitter has seen just about all that can be offered from a righty.
Maybe facing a LHP does give a slight advantage to a righty, HOWEVER this does not automatically reciprocate into a disadvantage against a RHP.
We decided to make nothing out of something by reaching for the matchup game
- with only 1 out to work with
- with a runner on base
- in a 1 run game
So we bench a guy with a HR in the game for a kid coming in ice cold. For no other reason than what hand that the ball was being thrown from.. It should be called what it was, RETARDED.
Because of the irregularity (what makes LHP so sought after) the lefty vs lefty dynamic is a lot more plausible when playing matchups.
Don’t give me bullshite about incremental variances that boil down to a handful of hundredths of a percentage. Not everything in sports can be quantified.

Yep. CJJ over coached last night between that substitution and the pitching schizophrenia.
Problem is at this stage in the season he still trusts no one and therefore defaults to stats and instincts.

He’s so consistently made the wrong decision this year. It’s baffling.

Yeah. It makes no sense. Granted he’s only been to the plate 35-ish times, but Yamin has the second highest batting average and he’s 3rd in slg% and ob%. Stats aside, he is the ultimate team guy that can start a rally. I hate pulling guy like him for some tiny advantage on paper that doesn’t account for the stress of the moment.
Jay is great coach but he’s not pushing the right buttons this year.

The hairpin trigger he has with pitchers has made matters worse this season IMO.
Yes, guys in the pen have struggled mightily. But how can a pitcher get settled in knowing that they can/will be pulled after coming in and getting one out, only to see the next inconsistent guy shite the bed?

Jay is a great coach but nothing has worked this year.
