re: The reason JL is getting talked about as QB is simple

The reason is obvious. People who know anything about football can see that JJ isn't a QB.
It really has little to do with Lee.
If JJ is truly the best alternative we have for the next 2 years, then they'll be a rough 2 years. People know this. THAT is why they wonder about Lee.
Fine post, and dead on

The OLine/run game was money in the Spring game. How did JJ do with that?
The run blocking was good and the pass blocking wasn't. Mingo, for one, could have just lined up next to the QB for all the good blocking him seemed to do.
But beyond that, yes JJ had a bad spring game. If spring games were any real indication of play Joseph Barreca would have rushed for 1200 yards in 1998.

The only game I would blame JJ for was PSU.
add another crucial TD drop off randles hands, and LSU wins that game.
but yeah, JJ didn't play well in those conditions.

only reason people hate on Jamarcus is because of the bama boy necklace
I was calling Jefferson the savior last year.. and I defended him against the likes of the pro-JL crowd almost all year
I just want a QB who will lead us to points. I don't care if he only has one arm.

Lee was behind at half-time 17-6 and his td pass was a quick 6 int for the other team.
Hot damn, let's take the losing qb. Some of you people don't know enough to come in out of the rain, but you think you know better than the coaching staff.
Now I know where shorty comes from, short of brains.

I dont believe Mingo was up against JJ, except for one series. So thats no excuse.
JJs line help up well, and opened nice gaps.
But JJ still sucked. So the OLine is not the excuse anymore for poor accuracy, Hail Marys, and multiple sacks

Mingo was on JJ's team...

JJ was second in the SEC in completion % last year.

JJ will start. JJ will play the whole season barring injury.
Its all on him, I have very little faith. LSU needs to change the offense to exclude QB decision making as much as possible or they are screwed.
I hope JJ gets it, I hope Lee gets it, I hope Les Miles gets it. But the odds seem to be growing slimmer.

bullshite. Inherited QB for sure, but Flynn had less game time experience than either Lee or JJ for the 2009 season.
FYI, Flynn had more gametime experience entering 2007 than Jefferson had entering 2009.

I am not making excuses for the level of JJ's play, he should have looked better. And yea, I was just using Mingo as an example. The pass blocking still looks pretty poor, there is a real inability to form a pocket. It would have been nice to see if JJ could finally step up in the pocket to make throws. That is one of the biggest things he needs to work on.

one could make the argument that Lee could've been protected better as a RS-FR if the defense had been a little more reliable...
To be honest, I don't think any of our QBs "have it" right now. Can that change in 5 months. God I hope so.
But I don't have much faith in our offensive coaching staff to bring the best out of any of their talents. But I am not basing this on a fricking spring game of all things. It's the last 2 seasons of lack of development and play calling against any individual players strengths.
The last thing we need is JL running the option and (or JJ either, lol), JJ in shotgun dropping back an extra 7 yards afterwards (14 yards total) while receivers run 120 yard routes OR JL throwing quick read outs into defenders waiting arms.
Coaches have to know their players strengths.

Lee did lead us to more points, though. Even if he spotted the other team to like 3 points a game.

And the 1st place QB had 700 more yards, and the 3rd place QB had 400 more yards.
So your stat just adds fuel to the fire that JJ was mainly throwing behind, at, or just in front of the line of scrimmage

JJ can make more throws on the field than Mauck or Flynn could.
Um. Mauck was SUBSTANTIALLY more aware and effectively mobile.
That you would compare JJ's throwing ability to Flynn's is just a flat out absurdity.
