You realize that YOU would be the one rubbing your view in someone's face for them wearing a cap during a game?

The irony in this thread is that most of you are the ones who are complaining about the country becoming socialist, how we're losing our civil liberties, etc (fwiw I lean republican), yet you can't grasp the concept that people have the right to do what they want, as long as it doesn't infringe upon others.

If the national fricking ice cream was chocolate and I liked vanilla better, would that make me un-American?

I'm a veteran and I don't care one single iota if someone removes their hat or not.

Yep, or using words like "honor" and "respect" or any other vague words in an attempt to demean or make someone feel bad. It's pretty pathetic that I haven't seen anyone answer exactly why covering one's head is a form of disrespect.

is it still mandatory to remove them or am I clinging to some old-school shite my pops taught me?

It's infact a U.S. law that headdress be removed by men during the National Anthem other than for those in uniform.

You've told me all I need to know about yourself in your desire to keep your hat on. Nothing else matters at this point.

Then we will agree to disagree. May you be blessed in your life. I sincerely hope that someone who leaves their hat on during the national anthem saves you or a member of your family's life one day, then you will understand how truly stupid this statement is. There are plenty of things in MY life that are more important than the hat/anthem issue. God bless you.

but do you really honestly think this is in good taste or shows respect for people that your hat is more important?

no, I always wear a plain Navy suit that I got from KMart because I know my dead friend would be offended if I wore the one I paid 3 grand for at Nordstroms...

Agreed.

Bottom line, you have every right to dissent and not remove your hat. I have every right to opine that you (not you in particular, but one who doesn't remove his hat) are a disrespectful, unpatriotic, selfish, rabblerousers.

Not rocket science.

how is every person ignoring the person that posted the actual U.S. Code stating the LAW about removing your hat?!?!?!

Because it's been ruled unenforcible by the US Supreme Court.

That pesky first amendment got in the way.

Of course they have a right to protest. I'm just wondering what and why they would be doing it. If they aren't b/c they are just dumb that's different.

I'm not taking it off for them but I'm gonna want an answer as to why they are protesting

Just because it is unenforcable, does not mean it has been repealed, smart guy.

From a previous post:

"all other persons present SHOULD face the flag and stand at attention with their right hand over the heart, and men not in uniform, if applicable, SHOULD remove their headdress with their right hand and hold it at the left shoulder, the hand being over the heart"

It is clearly not mandatory to remove a hat during the national anthem. There's your answer

can you tell me why any military personell, police or even the color gaurd for that matter dont remove their hat's during the National Anthem?

Because according to tradition, and now the Flag Code, persons in uniform do not remove their hats, but leave them on and render a military style hand salute.

I should have put more emphasis on rabblerouser. lol
