Coach O said he wanted to make sure the new defensive coaches were comfortable with him coaching defensive line.
Said he let that go, presumably under Bo Pelini, and that he regretted it. #LSU

somehow our fanbase is melting over our DL guru head coach wanting to be more involved with the DL a year after watching his line go a full season without setting a single edge. we are a ridiculous fanbase.

It doesn't matter what was said or how it was said. The majority of our fanbase now has it out for Coach O.

The man orchestrated and coached the greatest team in college football history just two seasons ago, but our fanbase is demanding him continue that success or he's on the hot seat. It's truly embarrassing.

From my understanding LaCouture was a big part of the DL staff.

Huh? Of course it matters what was said. People weren't upset about coach o in general; they were upset about the idea of him meddling in the defense. If he hadn't said that, people wouldn't have been upset.

And as for "the majority of our fanbase now [having] it out for Coach O", does he not deserve scrutiny for the fact that he hired the single worst power 5 DC in the country last year without even interviewing the guy? Seriously, I'd like to hear your answer: Does O deserve any criticism for that? Do you truly believe that there is no reason at all for our fanbase to distrust his instincts? Serious question. Let's hear what you have to say.

It really wasn’t as bad a quote as it was a headline

He said he wanted to be more involved in the defensive front, which he got away from last year.

If there is anything I trust O about its Defensive fronts.

And I think I said In another thread, I agree With him that going to a 3 man DL maybe wasn’t the best bet for this year.

Realistically, when we ran a base 3/4 we had 3 guys who couldn’t get to the ball and a BOLB that sometimes we dropped into coverage to look completely lost.

Let Gaye, Anthony and BJ put their hand in the ground and go.

If we can get some pass rush from our Interior DL look out. Roy and Smith are gonna take over I think.

So O stepped in on the OC doing shifts before the Troy game, but not the DL last year?

Did it ever occur to you that the lack of what he did then, led to what he is doing now !!!!!!!

This “ridiculous “ fan base shite is getting old. Every dang program has a ridiculous faction of their fan base. Now regarding this situation, why didn’t O get involved last season with the DL if they couldn’t set an edge? Why did he just watch it all happen and not step in? And why is he asking for permission to coach his position, pretty sure he’s the HC.

I think people are demanding that our $7 million coach perform better than the worst season since 1999, including historic losses to Mizzou, State and Auburn.

It doesn’t help that his whole pitch for the job was to “hire the best coordinators,” yet he just paid over $6 million to half the coaching staff in buyout money.

The 20 psychopaths on the rant are not an accurate depiction of the fanbase.
