The origin of Clemson 'Tigers'

First off, it came from an Auburn guy...?
The anthropomorphized tiger is costumed in Acrylic/polyester fur...so it was never a real tiger.
What does Clemson mean?
noun. From our crowdsourced Open Dictionary. the ability to inexplicably achieve a disappointing result, even when success seems all but inevitable.
OMG this is literally found when you google Clemson Tigers.....no wonder they have no real identity

Now the origin of LSU's Tigers
"According to LSU football tradition, the name came from a Civil War regiment known as the Louisiana Tigers, which distinguished itself with its fighting spirit in the battle of the Shenandoah Valley, where it was said they 'fought like tigers,'"

OK, LSU Tigers were named after a civil war regiment, Clemson was named by a Auburn guy in like 1890, about 50 years later. Case closed on who were the original 'tigers'.

Why didn't you just add all of this to your other thread?

Whose is the ""original"" Death Valley?
Who cares.
LSU only wins National Titles in New Orleans . . .
Who cares.
Clemson and Auburn share so many roots that Clemson is basically Auburn with a lake.
So what?
The fact is Clemson and Auburn did not share roots today when Minnesota whipped Auburn, and what happened in the 1890's has zero bearing on what will happen on Jan 13.

I am so sick of the retarded fanboy topics most Clemson fans seem obsessed with. Not a damn one can intelligently discuss football.
Bama fans are more fun to discuss playstyle and gameplan than them and I never thought I would see anyone worse.

Louisiana's regiment was feared by other Southern regiments as well! Those were some wild and crazy bad asses.

The Louisiana Tigers were so feared and had such a bad reputation that according to one story there was a soldier who approached a house and asked the woman for food. When she asked the soldier where he was from, and he said "Louisiana", she fainted!

do you have any idea when the civil war was fought?

LSU can’t take the name of an animal that has been on the planet for millions of years as it’s own. They can use it; same as Auburn. Next thing you know some dumpass will want LSU to give up their mascot.
