CC is adding to the staff not replacing. He is going to work with experienced players and play to their strengths and push younger players to their limits. He will be calling plays in the context of the overall game plan including the other two phases of the game. CC will either be on sideline calling plays or on top.(think he will be in booth). Cam will take this program to the next level and is very excited to part of the LSU family and recruiting is a big part of that. Les is quite happy to have someone of Cam's pedigree to coach at this level with LSU in the foreseeable future.

Cliffsnotes on what Cam said?

Mostly that he's not looking to overhaul the offense. Some of you may be upset at that but it's the right thing to do. He wants to find out what things we're good at, what things need improvement and then try to help where he can. He will challenge everyone to get better but he will play to their strengths while simultaneously trying to help their weaknesses. He's also fired up about recruiting. In short, you can feel the excitement the guy has and that makes me excited too.

I certainly hope not. His résumé as a head coach is beyond abominable.

I venture to say that 80% of the time in his 5 years as a HC in the Big 10 that he had inferior talent. He also took over a Saban's 6-10 Miami Dolphins and proceeded to lose a shitload of front line players because Saban had complete control over personnel and no clue how to manage a salary cap. The 2007 Dolphins were a re-building project. They went 1- 15 but lost 6 games by 3 points or less. And it's not a coincidence that GM Randy Mueller was also terminated at the end of the season. He went ape shite when Saban left and he was given control over personnel. He was more to blame for that season than Cameron. It didn't help that QB Trent Green went down for the season in Game 5 and the Dolphins didn't have an experienced backup.

I would only add that Cam said he has watched every LSU game for the last 8 years (since his buddy Miles has been coach)

I think he already has a good idea of what personel we are returning on offense. Once you learn how to break down film, these coaches analyze the shite out of every game they watch, they can't help themselves. I think Cam already has some ideas rolling around in his head.

Best hire possible at OC. Together with one of the best (if not the best DC). + The Hat = We stacked!

you do know said resume was on a stop gap/sinking ship in miami for one season and at indiana where they don't care about football and actually had to compete in the big ten in the 90's when it was competitive?

You do know that good coaches rise up through the ranks by winning games at terrible places, right? Spurrier and Duke. Urban at Utah. Brian Kelly, Brady Hoke the list goes on and on and on and on and on. Guess what the common thread is, none of those guys couldn't get the job done because of circumstances. They made their place better. Sorry, that excuse isn't good enough. No one should accept it, but especially not at a place like LSU where we appear to be a 10 win a year minimum machine. Don't guess.

Record with Trent Green, BTW 0-5.

Those are college programs that were sinking... NFL teams that are sinking are a completely different animal. You have a team full of professional players who hardly act as professionals. The dynamic between players and coaches in the NFL is way different than in college.

If a player's 3 million dollar a year contract won't motivate them, no coach will.

That says it all. Trent Green is the GOAT and if you can't win with him, you can't coach.

Watching every LSU game over the past 8 years tells me he already knows what to do. That line was the most important of the entire presser. Part of his interview was certainly what to do specifically with talent on hand now. They just talk generalities to the lay public.

I think the original announcement for the presser said LSUsports.net would be releasing video of the presser later this afternoon.
