Each scholly limit would only be increased by the number of returning seniors.

If we can cancel everything we can do this.

Dude you know what I’m saying.

It’ll take some finagling and negotiating but they OWE this to the athletes and to a lesser extent the fans.

No, I don't.

You contradicted yourself with two posts.

Haha, they don't owe shite to the fans.

No player affected by the corona shutdown counts towards scholly limit.

And they did frick us over. But to a much lesser extent than the players and coaches.

How?

Because you don't get to watch games?

Get over yourself dude. This decision wasn't made to spite you, it's to protect the players, coaches and even the fans.

Next question, you really think the NCAA is going to increase scholarship limits for all sports when they only allow baseball to have 11.7 scholarships?

And then what happens to baseball seniors who aren't on full scholarship and have to pay out the arse for grad school tuition so that they can be eligible to play for a 5th year?

Baseball limits are so bad they should be at least doubled.

...but they won't, that's my point.

You're asking the NCAA to bend over backwards to do all of this for a bunch of sports when they've shown that they barely recognize baseball as a sport.

I feel like even though we’re arguing we would both like to see the same things.

11.7 and no 3rd paid assistant make me want to exile certain non-SEC officials to Wuhan

Your attempts to play devils advocate in this thread are awful. Yes, the NCAA should grant a waiver for any player in any sport affected. Let any kid play and the school pick up his tab again for whatever scholarship he had this season and it not count against any limits. If a kid had a quarter baseball scholarship, he gets that again. If he can’t scrounge the money to pay the rest then he doesn’t play

Ya and other people in other facets of life “may want“ __________.

As much as some of you think otherwise, athletes are not special people.

Is this your way of telling me that LSU is NOT playing tonight?

They are students first, and the NCAA honored their scholarship commitment

But that would have the follow effects:

1. Seniors get an extra free year of college education, while Juniors, Sophomores, and Freshmen, who are being hurt by this, don’t.

Or

2. Everyone receives an extra free year of college

3. If the option is 3, how are we going to open up scholarships for high school recruits? The NCAA won’t give a 20% increase in scholarships to college programs. No way that happens, especially after all the money they are losing in 2020.

—-

The fact is, they received their grant of free college tuition (or some of it paid) based on a their athletic talents. The NCAA is doing fine by them by letting them keep these scholarships, IMO

No, they did not. A full season includes playing in the SEC tournament that these young men earned. Yes, I know most think they didn't earn it as well as they could have, but you play the course. And they did. And now they don't get to experience tournament play. Just think of how many players made a name for themselves and raised their draft stock by making a great tournament run. I think they deserve a redshirt year, if they want it.

What do you think that has been done so far was not in the best interest of the athletes?

Day one they sign scholarship papers that bind them to the school, but the school has the option of not providing a scholarship, and even if they do it’s only for one year.

The school can also make money off the athlete whereas the athlete is limited to a scholarship.

Who’s the person who put a gun to their heads and forced them to sign this letter of intent?
