re: The most disappointing aspect of the schedule isn't just the East opponents....

I can understand the unfairness of the permanent opponent rule, but too many consecutive SEC games.
LSU is in the SEC you moron--get use to it.
Then let's switch.
LSU's longest SEC stretch without a bye:
Sep. 21 Auburn
Sep. 28 at Georgia
Oct. 5 at Mississippi St.
Oct. 12 Florida
Oct. 19 at Ole Miss
A&M's longest SEC stretch without a bye:
Oct 12 at Ole Miss
Oct 19 Auburn
Oct 26 Vanderbilt
Bama's longest SEC stretch without a bye:
Oct. 12 at Kentucky
Oct. 19 Arkansas
Oct. 26 Tennessee
Don't get me wrong. As an LSU fan, if my program was being benefited by this type of thing, I'd be ok with it too. Of course, I'd like to think I'd have enough sense to keep my mouth shut about it rather than having the audacity to point at anyone complaining about the fricking obvious disparity and calling them out for it. That seems...oh I don't know...to be bad form.

going back into my post about momentum, you might also want to consider who our opponent is playing the week before they play us.
All great points Godfather.
It really is crazy how bad we screwed ourselves by taking it quietly.
I just think it's important to understand the monumental task ahead of us so we have some level headed perspective and expectations going into the season.
Fact of the matter is, we could be a better team last year, which I think we will, and still finish the regular season with the same or even worse record than last year.
Oh and go frick yourself to the Bama troll trying to rustle jimmies. Not a frick is given in this thread of your opinion dude.
I'm not even bitching at the SEC, I'm questioning our AD for not taking a stand against clear disparity.
Enjoy another 11-1 season splitting your only two challenging spots on your schedule. It'll probably get you another NC. I know I would.
But I sure as frick wouldn't be on another team's website puffing my chest up about the life in the SEC when your schedule the past 2 if not 3 years hasn't resembled anything close to challenging.

says the fan of the team who's longest string of SEC opponents (not separated by a bye) is 3 and those three are at UK, and then home against tenn and arky.
i'll listen to a complaint from any other sec team....but bama is being handed the inside track.
they found a way to make beating them in '11 not matter. looks like they've set up the season this yr to make a loss to LSU not matter either.

am I the only one who thinks the bye weeks being that late in the season a good thing?
Posted on 7/17/13 at 10:49 am to TDTGodfather
Add A&M to the list of fans who can't bitch.
I truly can't believe how smoothly both of their schedules set up for them.
It barely even feels like SEC schedules. No sustained challenges.
Mindblowing when you actually sit down and look at it, really.

we'll see. if we have 2 losses by then, it may not matter.
definitely good to get players' legs back under them and a chance for injuries to heal.

Generally yeah, but we'll see how the team looks after six straight games after Auburn and the Georgian road trip. Kent State before Auburn is no joke either. They were damn near a BCS team last year.
TCU to the Ole Miss road trip is a fricking meat grinder any way you slice it, and a break in there somewhere was needed imo.
Would be very surprised if we make it to Bama unscathed, and if we do, we are talking one of the most impressive runs I can remember in Tiger history.

I'll give ya that. A road trip to a dangerous OM team, with a Vandy team that is no pushover anymore, and Auburn who always recruits well that finally may have a real coach that I expect to be very vastly different from last years mess is not easy.
But having only one 3 game SEC stretch that starts on the road followed by 2 home games, all against non-big 6 is about as smooth as can be expected, unless you're Bama of course

2011 was an unprecedented run in tiger history and you see how everyone here just talks so fondly of that year.

Right.
Knowing our fans, we'll go 9-0 through a gauntlet, the beat up team will drop a close game to #1 Bama or A&M, and our fans will crucify Les for "leaving another NC on the table".

TAMU and Bama have made the West uncomfortable for us. It's only fair that we request an easy East schedule.

We get:
BYE
Bama
BYE
A&M
I think the byes work out in our favor. And I don't consider playing Georgia and Florida "disappointing" in the slightest

No doubt...assuming LSU can get through that 5 game SEC stretch (with 3 on the road) unscathed. If LSU drops a game or 2 in that group, beating both BAMA and eaTme after bye weeks only makes LSU the most celebrated spoiler in the country.
IIIIIIIIIF LSU is undefeated going into that bye week before BAMA, then we'll be sitting pretty. And, of course, BAMA fans will bitch that LSU has a bye week before playing them and eaTma (forgetting what we had to go through to get there.)
All things being equal, I'd prefer all things to be as equal as possible.

Once the opponents were selected, however that happened, LSU should have kicked up a lot of dust to at least have the schedule be more equitably spread out for our team given that we clearly had the most challenging opponents.
Oct 19 was originally a bye for LSU and Ole Miss. We did not have an open date before Alabama, so we negotiated with Ole Miss to move the game to Oct 19 so we would have a bye before Alabama.
If you have a concern it would be that the SEC did not give us the bye dates we normally want. Late Sept or early October for the early one. And the first we of November which is prior to Alabama and sets us up for 3 or 4 games in November.

If LSU makes it through this schedule in one piece, I defy anyone to ever say anything bad about this coaching staff again.
Hmmm...
See 2011...
I bet if LSU goes 13-0 and loses another rematch to Bama, you will torch the coaching staff along with the rest of the majority of the fan base.

I love our schedule, wish we could add South Carolina too. We have enough talent to win every game, i'm not concerned with other teams schedules. If we come out ready to go with a good game plan in place, we should roll through it.

Wrong - We need to make our schedule easier. Les Miles knows that. People don't ask us who we played.
