The media hypocrisy on Kiffin is comical. What the heck should he have done?!?

All these talking heads who keep saying "I have no issue with him taking the job" but then very next breath say "It's how and when he did it." Well, if you have no issue with him considering and taking the job, then what in the world could/should he have done?!? Those 2 statements are in direct contradiction with each other because of how the recruiting calendar works. Stop it.

If you're mad - blame the NCAA and the college football recruiting calendar.

Finebaum is the maddest.

It's really an intelligence test. If you think Kiffin should have rejected better opportunities for any reason you have failed.

It really is so stupid. They all half acknowledge the issue but then just blaze forward with their hot take that Kiffin is the devil.

Brian Kelly was leaving the fifth ranked team in the country when we hired him in 2021. Lincoln Riley left the 7th ranked to go to USC. The difference was it was a four team playoff so it didn’t matter. A 12 team playoff (soon to be 14 or 16) makes the entire calendar completely untenable. The vast majority of new coaching hires are going to be HCs or coordinators of playoff teams or teams in playoff contention. And under the current system they and the schools trying to hire them have to run the process in the heart of the season.

They created this monster with an expanded playoff and yearly roster turnovers because of unlimited transfers. Everyone has to have next years coach in place by Thanksgiving weekend due to the calendar.

When the talking heads say, "It's how and when he did it," they are talking about the ultimatums he supposedly gave Ole Miss regarding staff and players. Finebaum is mad because he knows what LSU could be capable of under Kiffin, and he's concerned for his beloved Alabama. It's similar to how LSU fans when Saban left the Dolphins for Alabama.

Dan Wetzel definitely has it out for Kiffin. His past articles are direct attacks at the man.

Only he can decide for himself. But it's not like he couldn't have just used the situation to get more money from Ole Miss and stay at Ole Miss.

That was only said because the AD denied him to coach through the playoffs. He wanted to coach for a championship. Now two other teams( Tulane , JMU) have hired coaches who will be in the playoffs and will allow that coach to coach through the playoffs. Guarantee media will not outrage like they have been doing for LK.

He knew that even with a playoff berth that Ole Miss will never win a championship. He had maxed out Ole Miss and for him to win a national championship he had to jump to LSU. There was never going to be a good time. He just ripped the band aid off.
