Whole lot of pissing and moaning about Saban in this thread.

Reading comprehension has failed you big time.

As I stated, I like Saban. A lot. Still do.

Just pointing out why he wasn't treated like the God he is now by the national media while he was at LSU.

Also pointing out some flaws as well.

Who knows.

If Saban goes to Bama at the end of 1999, would he have been a God by 2003?

No, my reading comprehension is just fine. Regardless of how you try to hide your dislike for him, it's pretty easy to see.

LOL. I worked in a small capacity with the guy several years ago, moron.

You know nothing about me. My loyalty is with LSU and whoever is wearing purple and gold. Saban left for Bama, so now he's Tiger Bait, just like Muschamp, Fisher, etc.

Just because their now Tiger Bait doesn't mean I don't respect them.

You people are hilarious.

OK, my kids are up now. I'm out until I'm bored again.

You mean like winning the SEC west, winning the SEC, and beating FIVE teams in the top 15? That kind of stuff?

No, I mean like winning 1 close game against a mediocre team then jumping ahead of 5 teams, all from major conferences, one of which had only 1 loss compared to lsu's 2, and only 2 of which had lost games that weekend.

That compared to Alabama, the #3 team in the bcs, jumping up to #2 in th bcs when the team previously ranked #2 lost.

Which of the above scenarios do you think happens more often?

How is that relevant at all???

I'm the biggest Miles supporter around, but I also think Saban TODAY is the best in the biz. Miles TODAY is better than Saban was at LSU imo.

Both coaches have gotten better over the years, but Saban has gone on a remarkable run these past five years, with a TON of breaks going his way I might add.

I those same five years since 07, Miles stopped getting breaks. Seriously, the 2011 screw job is the worst coaching break in history imo considering it came against a division rival and gave Saban a do over after Les got his team to take care of business the first time on the road.

As for Miles taking over LSU in 2000, who knows. But I know he took over a program at OSU that was INFINITELY worse off than LSU in 99, just 2 years removed from a 10 win season and preseason top 10 ranking in 98.

Miles brought OSU back into the bowl picture consistently and competed against and beat OU, who was the premiere program in the country at the time.

Gundy has built on Miles' foundation just like Miles has built on Saban's.

Anyone who won't acknowledge that our program today is on a completely different level than it was when Saban left in 04 is either stupid or dishonest and isn't worth engaging in any sort of discussion.

Good for you that you worked with him. I didn't work with him, and I don't claim to know anything about you, nor care to know anything about you.

Our university officials didn't initially buy into what he wanted from the program either which caused a lot of dissention.

He wanted to invest 100's of millions into the university. He had not proven himself anywhere realistically at that point. Our alumni and boosters are more concerned about return of investment than national titles as well.

You are correct, partially, when you say the program makes the man. But you are asserting that he is viewed as a god (if I am not mistaken). Bama went all-in with Saban. We held back for years with what he wanted. Finally giving him the athletic complex he had been asking for since his interview shortly before he left. There was a lot of arguements from what I understand between Bertman...the pres and Saban about how to allocate funds.

Additionally, he won one NC with LSU. He is about to play for his 3rd with Bama in almost the same amount of time. Our fanbase has never been one (since Curly) to have full support of a coach...we are a minute-to-minute fanbase. Almost all Louisiana sports fans are.

Bama fans are the most loyal fans in the world if you are a proven commodity. Their history and tradition makes them more relevant than LSU can ever hope to be. And Saban is keeping it that way currently by running a better program both on and off the field.

Everyone knew LSU would AND SHOULD jump Kansas, Georgia, and Vtech. Missouri was an underdog to OU and had already lost to them once.

The ONLY lucky break we got was Pat White getting hurt against Pitt.

Once he went down, Rich Rod had no idea how to run his O.

The Backyard Brawl is as intense a rivalry as there is in CFB.

Much more intense than Oklahoma State and fricking Iowa State.

No difference in those two upsets.

Saban is much better now than when he was with us. I don't want him back but if we switched coaches on 1/9 we win.

The fact of the matter is that the #3 team jumping to the #2 spot when the #3 team wins and the #2 team loses is FAR more likely than the #7 team jumping to the #2 spot when the #1 and #2 teams lose and #3-6 are idle.

The fact of the matter is that LSU got a much bigger mulligan in 2007 than Alabama dd in 2011.

Oklahoma's mulligan trumps all and probably why they weren't there in 2007

The injury actually happened early in the game and xrays didn't show a break at halftime so he stayed in.

So is it your belief that Miles hasn't made the LSU program better than when Saban left in 04?

Correct.

I believe quite a few coaches could have walked into that situation and done just as good if not better.
