The consumate dedicated "Forever LSU Tiger"!
I was a teenager listening on the radio in 1964 to this next description:
Tensions rose as Ezell called the two-point play. The ball was snapped and Ezell rolled right, again they called for Masters to button hook. This time he followed through with the route. Doug Moreau faked inside and ran an outbreaking route toward the sideline. Ezell spotted him and fired his pass, which is tipped by Ole Miss defender Tommy Luke. In my imagination, this moment is filled with intense drama as the ball rotated in the air upon being tipped. It’s the type of tension where you could hear a pin drop. Not a breath was taken as the ball floated... seemingly heading for the ground. The talented Moreau reaches out and snags the ball on his fingertips and plants both feet in, just six inches shy of being out of bounds. 11-10 LSU leads with 3-1/2minutes to go...the rest is history!

Glad LSU is honoring him though. He made many positive contributions to LSU and Louisiana through the years. I hope his health has improved and that this isn’t a final goodbye.
Edit: Judge and DA.

I thought he was a judge before he became DA
That’s usually the path to become da

I just looked it up and you and the OP are right. He was a Judge from 1979-91. I only ever knew him as the District Attorney.

I was a freshman and that describes the game very well. I thought it was later in the game, but the final was 11-10, and Moreau became an instant celebrity on campus. One of the reasons I fell in love with LSU football so long ago.
