Drop it back down to 12-15 premier bowl games and you\'ll see more interest again.

Agreed, it's out of control. It's come to the point that if you aren't playing in the BCSNG it just doesn't matter.

then, throw in the five-week hiatus between the final regular season game as well as having to travel somewhere during the holidays and you have a recipe for complacency ..

It was loud until the kick off a couple of times this year. Then as usual the student section started emptying out around the 10 minute mark in the 1st quarter and the fat cats in my section started to leave to beat the traffic at half-time.

actually i was at every game/home and away except UW last year. I meant in neutral sites, even when outnumbered, were typically the loudest.

I'm predicting that it will just get worse from here on out. I don't know if LSU season ticket holders who ordered bowl tickets have ever taken the financial bath on tickets that they will take this year.

In order to get LSU fans to order bowl tickets, look for the TAF to get involved in future non-BCS bowl tickets. By that I mean watch for some sort of incentive to order bowl games. Something like 1/2 TAF point for every bowl ticket you buy. That would guarantee a sell out every lesser bowl game (and then some) in the future.

Well, thinking it would be a sell-out, I bought our tix for a reasonable price. We live near Orlando and thought that we could finally attend and watch LSU play a football game. We have tix in section 232. If anyone wants to give some away (or practically so) in better (LSU) sections, I'm game. I also know some people here in Rockledge, FL, who are looking for tix but can't afford them. To see Joe Pa possibly coach his last game and watch LSU should be a great opportunity.

Unless fans want to relinquish their season tickets, they have to continue to make yearly donations.

I'm not talking about Tradition Fund donations required to keep your tickets. I'm talking about the extra $100 (soon to increase) in order to get 3.1 extra TAF points so that you can keep up with the Joneses in order to get bowl and away game tickets.

Cancel out of what? The ticket request? I'm pretty sure you can't do that.

Outside of the sugar bowl/bcs championship, has LSU ever played in a bowl game that sold out? Gator bowl and independence bowl come to mind.

I don't have access to the exact numbers, but I do recall the Peach Bowl being very happy with LSU's ticket sales in 2000 and 1996, and I think the Cotton Bowl was pretty well attended by LSU fans in 2002/3. Of course, we also had 40,000+ tickets sold for the Rose Bowl in 2006/7 until the invitation fell through.

What's funny is 98% of the people on the ticket exchange board are trying to sell it for face. People need to understand they're going to take a loss at this point and drop the price drastically in order to get any bite.

that would've been the biggest embarrasment had LSU gone to the Rose Bowl that year. would've been the biggest secondary market in LSU ticket history.

So I'll be able to pick up some nice tickets outside the Citrus Bowl on New Years?

100% chance you will get tickets dirt cheap....there are auctions on Ebay - 2 tickets went for $33, 4 tickets are going for 100-150.

i have NEVER been to an LSU bowl game (outside of the two title games) where there weren't an ASSLOAD of tickets available on gameday ...
The Cotton Bowl when played Texas (2002 or 2001) was a tough ticket to get. It probably had more to with Texas though.

Selling bowl tickets isn't an LSU problem. EVERY school, with a couple of exceptions, takes a big loss on the ticket guarantee. People gripe about the BCS setup, but it keeps conference schools from going into the red when accepting a bowl bid.

LSU sent me a few e-mails about tickets, first time ever. Not a season ticket holder.

I think a lot of those people don't have the money and can't afford the trip, tiggah ... they just can't wrap their minds around the reality that the tickets aren't worth the printed price ..

totally agree, tree ... 70% of those people were caught up in the emotion of the moment ... I would have made the trip .. but dude .. that trip would have cost more than an entire season of road trips combined .. maybe 12K tops woulda gone ..

you're right, arrakis .. all schools struggle with this .. it is not an LSU castigation ... thanks to the BCS, every SEC school is guaranteed $1.4 million just off of the the 1 BCS bid alone .. the second school in for the league bumps that to almost 2 mil .... before the BCS the sugar bowl paid what ? 4 or 5 mil ? and that was split 13 ways ...
