The good -
Past coaching situation was toxic. That is over. Thank God. Next play.
Coach W held things together. No players have opted out. They prepared well considered the circumstances.
The team showed up ready to play from the get geaux.
Defense did enough to win this game like the first games
MVB can develop into a weapon as did Jayden Daniels. Not saying is good but good. Do not pay 2 million for someone else. He has not been given opportunity yet to develop. He could, Also, he was fun to watch and it is supposes to be entertaining.
22 is very good. He made the Oline look better than they are.
The team played hard until the end. That was impressive.
The bad
First half offense looked like the first 8 weeks.
The decision to try to score at the end of the first half rather than running the clock down and go into halftime down by only 7 was bad. Coach W admitted that. Refreshing to see coach own up to that.
The ugly
Way too many pass drops highlighted by the 3rd and 8 from our own 3 when under pressure. MVB put the ball right on the wide open receiver who may still be running but dropped it. We were down by 8 with 7:30 on the clock. If that play had success which it could have then anything would become possible.
The many referee intrusions and bad calls. Moving the ball back on the MVB slide overturning the call on the field potentially altered the game since we were within striking distance. The ref on the mic could have just as well said we are marking the ball back enough to make it fourth down.. That run created momentum. The momentum was disrupted by stopping for a review and then moving the ball back.
Coach did a good job post game interview in a professional way. However, in my eyes when he was asked about MVB play in the game, he gave supportive remarks which were appropriate. BUT he went on to say that MVB has to work on holding the ball with two hands related to the fumble. He did have two hands most of the cock back. The Alabama guy breathing down his throat from the left side may have had something to do with it. For much of the time in the game he ran for his life and made very good throws with several key throws dropped. Honestly I do not think if the quarterbacks changed Jersies that the Bama QB would have done as well running for his life. As a matter of fact, compared to his other games he did not do so good.
Going forward here are some suggestions.
Let's try a new experiment that has potential. Give Nuss a rest this week to heal from whatever injuries he has had. He has tried hard. It is time to reward him with a deserved rest.
Let MVB prep this week to start, I think it would be more fun to watch and after all this is supposed to be entertainment.
Keep the Defensive coaches in place. They are not the problem. Imagine what some offensive production could have done to help them this year.
Consider Joe Brady as coach and let's do a summer of 10,000 catches again like Jefferson and Chase did in 2019. Seemed to work for them. And I think MVB can run that same 2019 Offense.

I would add, how about getting the damn ball to Green in the red zone.

Let’s not get carried away
I think MVB needs to start the last 3 games getting first team practice reps. If nothing else just to audition for the next coach and see if he has anything we can build on or if he needs to be processed and we need to find a starter in the portal.
At this point, big picture, winning games is secondary to seeing what pieces we have to build on for the next coach.

Green appeared to really emerge in the first half of the A&M game only to disappear. Then he shows up and drops a big pass.
