One thing that nobody seems to want to admit - Alabama spends more money on their football program than we do. A lot more. Yes, the total athletic revenue for the two schools is similar. But the spending is not.
Back in 2010, Alabama spent $31.6MM on football compared to LSU’s $21.5MM. In 2016, Alabama’s football spending had grown to $62.2MM ($211.2MM over the previous 4 years) while LSU’s football spending had only grown to $30MM ($127MM over the previous 4 years).
That’s a huge difference. Take a look at recruiting budgets. In 2017, Alabama spent $2.3MM on recruiting compared to LSU’s $1.2MM. In 2019, Alabama’s recruiting spending grew to $2.7MM compared to LSU’s $1.6MM.
And that’s just the spending that the public knows about.

I’d say we are a very long way off. Consider that we struggled against Miss State because a sophomore DB missed a game.
Bama wouldn’t have missed a beat

more people really need to understand that this is the best explanation for the gap. Nice job.

Well they're definitely ahead of us right now, lol. Hard to truly tell by how much though until we actually play each other. I know that there's no way we are going to beat them this year, but I hope we can at least keep it respectable. Saban and co are going to try and humiliate us after that beat down we gave them last year though, you can book that shite. I honestly just hope we keep it close...please, lol.
We have the talent, we are just very young and inexperienced. We have recruited very well and if we can get some good qb play out of these freshmen we have or the next wave coming in when we sign these next couple classes, we will be right there with them. It's always a qb question with LSU, and always will be. We always have had a ton of talent at the skill and lines of scrimmage on both sides of the ball to compete with anyone in the country, we just have to get a solid qb. I think we will.

You're talking about a program hoping to beat Vandy. Get real.

PS....Clemson is up there because they can take the season off, rest players, heal injuries, let underclassmen get quality playing time because of the chicken manure schedule they play in a crap conference.

After we whip their arse again this year! In tiger stadium! I predict JBE to allow tiger stadium to be at full capacity by that game!
