Baloney. Then why play the game?? Here's a question for all the take the money people cause you may get hurt....if you're in the final four playoff, then you don't play either....right??? I mean you may play TWO more games!!! You might get hurt!!! See why this bull shite argument about take the money has no rails?
You are either ALL end your junior year or not.

There were several reasons but that was part of it.

LSU players were focused on their NFL futures.

I'm failing to see how that reflected on the actual performance. It looked like the same type of game where the offense would sputter, and the defense had to be relied on to hopefully hang on, except it couldn't hold up for 99 defensive snaps.

I don't really care if players sit out or not. If I were in Key or Guice's shoes. I'd probably rest and heal. Then focus on the combine and player interviews.

It's just a bowl game afterall.

But an elite draft prospect with recent injury concerns? it's a risk/reward thing - what is to be gained and what could be lost?

For the small percentage of guys in that category, it's a valid question.

The problem is, you can ask this question at points during the regular season, not just before the bowl.

If it’s all about championships, then it’s a valid question before every game after we lost to Bama. And if we’re being honest, it’s probably a valid question after we lost to Troy.

I'm fairly certain you're just talking out of your arse because you feel strongly about this issue.

issue with your logic is that the regular season still provides the opportunity for ample game tape for NFL scouts to evaluate.

Before I say anything else, let me just point out that I'm only attempting to understand what these guys are thinking since I've never been in the position of an elite NFL draft prospect.

I can easily sit here and say I wouldn't sit out a game because I was never in a position to lose anything at any level, much less multiple millions of dollars.

With that being said, you're right - it could be a question at multiple times throughout the season. The more college football becomes a business, the more business-like decisions will be made.

I'd venture to say that some of the same people who disagree with guys sitting out bowl games will find a way to rationalize things when we pull scholarship offers from a few guys to make room for better players. It's all just business until someone else's best interests conflict with your own. Then it becomes about loyalty and spirit and pride and rah rah rah.

So two and a half season's worth of film isn't ample enough for NFL evaluation, but three is? There have been redshirt sophmores who have been drafted. The Saints signed a guy (Lewis) who drove a beer truck because he ran a good 40 time while he was on his lunch break for Christ's sake.

Bull. shite.

And even if that were 100% true - and to be clear, it's not - there's absolutely no way for anyone to know that.

The school invested in them too. You're acting as if it's a one-way street. It goes both ways. LSU offered them a scholarship, would it have been fair to pull the scholarship of a 4 year backup? Absolutely not. Nobody wants to see players hurt but getting hurt is a possibility during any time in their careers. They received all the benefits of PLAYING at LSU, then they should actually PLAY.

As long as they got the 100's of thousands of dollars in education, gear, trips, food, weight training, etc then they need to honor their obligation to uphold their end. You're a puss if you're willing to just roll over and accept that players are choosing not to play.

Amen.

What will happen when their NFL team is shite outta luck in week 12? Just shoot the bird to the fans?

This has no reflection on anyone but the players and the coaches.

You could tell by some of the efforts on the defensive side of the ball that players were not giving 100%. You could see it in the way they carried themselves.....

I'll bite. Who?

Who was carrying himself like a guy waiting for the NFL in that game?

And how do you know he wasn't just playing poorly for literally any other reason?

You get a little more stupid every day. It really is amazing, because you would think that eventually you wouldn't be able to get any more dumb.....yet you do.

You have no clue what you are talking about, and are constantly just spewing bullshite in every thread you possibly can.

yes

showing how a player endures at the end of a rugged season shows what type of shape he is in and his endurance levels

with a month break, this game shows none of those attributes

Hear me out: If we beat Notre Dame, the bowl was extremely important and has great value. If we lose, it was an exhibition and we never cared about it in the first place. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
