I can’t see Edwards leaving. He’ll be a senior having already transferred from juco and we need shooters next year.

As I agree, it has to be hard to run other types of offenses with the personnel we have. I think he is doing everything he can with what we got. Crazy we came this far with the guys we got.

Wade has done a good job overall, but tonight's loss was on him. His guys played their hearts out, but that offensive approach was John Brady level dog shite.

USC is a great defensive team. So what does Wade do? Run nothing but high ball screens 30 feet from the basket that (a) made LSU very easy to guard and (b) largely resulted in 20 seconds of dribbling without a single pass until panic set in with 10 seconds on the shot clock. Movement away from the ball was virtually non-existent.
I agree, and have noticed this for quite some time.

There's almost no movement on offense. Other than a high ball screen 25 feet out, we don't do anything. No motion, no other screens, no nothing. Stagnant.

That's my only beef with Will Wade. Everything else is dynamite.

I think just the opposite. When a team doesn't have elite offensive talent (outside of Waters), you've got to use scheme to score. That means motion, screens, deception, etc. to get some easy buckets.

Also, we need to do more of what we did on defense in the 2nd half. Apply pressure, creates turnovers, get a few easy baskets. That can make all the difference for a team that's not all that talented.

In my mind, I'm already there.

What astonishes me is how soft this team is. Wade has done about all he can without any help from the front court bigs. Epps & Reath are so weak defensively, I’m not sure they are even Sun Belt caliber. They really give it their all but the talent is just not there.

That was a big concern going into the season. Epps is a wing playing in a 6'10 frame. He has never really wanted to be more than a 3 point shooter (even under Jones). He likes to play in space. But if you force him to guard bigs in the post he gets eaten alive.

Reath has the size, but he his a very mechanical player as opposed to an instinctual player. He does what he is coached to do, but he doesn't have that bulldog mentality. Neither guy has. It just isn't who they are.

Rachal is really the only "bulldog" on this year's roster. He'll battle. That was never more apparent than last night when he grabbed 13 rebounds!

Next year's team should look completely different in that regard. Bigby-Williams is a presence in the paint (similar to Tyrus Thomas). Emmett Willams is super aggressive. He will try to grab every loose ball and block every shot he thinks he can get to. I think Wade is probably going to use the last scholarship on a transfer who may not be a great shooter/scorer, but will try to kick your arse on defense and rebounding.

after having watched every game, it's clear to me that the players are well coached but are not good individual players. when wade switched to the extended pressure, they took scar out of their comfort zone and were able to claw back into the game. that's coaching. missing 15 million point blank range layups including a dunk - that's lack of individual ability

you must have missed the 15 million times that lsu had a freaking layup opportunity but couldn't convert. he got them the shots. they missed.

Agreed, for the most part.

Sims will get minutes next year. He's relatively versatile and can switch on ball screens. He's also continued to improve. Hopefully he can develop a mid-range jump shot this offseason. Sampson, on the other hand, I don't see where he can find minutes next year.

I think we’ll be fine in that regard.

"Layups" makes it sound like there were uncontested. They were
contested is a relative term. they certainly weren't contested enough that they were unmakeable. face it. the players have proven this all season. they just aren't great bball players. wade has squeezed every ounce of lemonade out of those lemons.

i'm ready for sampson to move on. he is out of sync with this program. he doesn't do anything well.

I still can’t believe he was Mr. Basketball in Louisiana in 2015. How is that even possible?
