double-edged sword, I'd prefer building stable teams where a good percentage are here 4 years. It's hard to build the leadership, experience and team culture when you have a bunch of 3 and done type players

You will see both sides on the field in LSU v Iowa. Should be interesting to see the differences in a 4 year program versus a 3 year program.

i will agree with bearhc on one point (and i dont think he meant this at all), the culture change should only be for freshmen that are changing positions, or are truly not ready. everyone else should not see a redshirt.

that is the only culture change

It's not LSU's culture. It's the mindset of an entire country.
Entertainment is an enormous and well paying industry.
It's why LSU will give away tuition and other incentives.
It's also why the NFL will pay big money.

There are some things that I might not be against to help persuade the kids into staying for a degree.. like..

Abolishing (or completely changing the NCAA) - IE - "pay for play". Don't get me started on the NCAA, but it's the only billion dollar industry that I can think of where 85 percent of it's "employees" are truly interns.
Or scholarship stipulations that say the school gets x percentage of NFL pay for however many years of eligibility the player had left.
or maybe NFL stipulations - like, I dunno, docking the average semester's tuition times however many semesters early the kid leaves.

And it's not like forgoing the NFL to complete a degree is the "right" decision anyway.

In the end there really isn't one non-selfish, valid reason for a fan to want a player back.

The EGO thing does kinda piss me off though.

It is an LSU thing. Last year LSU had more early declarants not drafted in the top 100 picks than the entire rest of the SEC combined.

If it were happening everywhere, it wouldn't be an issue. The problem is that LSU is at a disadvantage when the rest of the SEC teams don't lose every junior who is decent at football.

This is not an argument.
LSU would be at a much bigger disadvantage in the SEC if they didn't have any NFL worthy players.
*see Vanderbilt.

But yeah. Our monster recruiting class was probably dissuaded when Frank Smith was all up in their living room talking about how LSU sent more players to the NFL than the rest of the SEC combined.

They didn't send more players to the NFL than the rest of the SEC combined. They sent more juniors who were not picked in the top 100 picks than the entire rest of the SEC combined; surely even Vandy has players that are good enough to go undrafted.
