Good move. 2 home runs! He must have been crushing it all week in BP

DH? If so I think the spot is his until Jo-Bu gets ahold of him. Is he the DH?

CJJ has liked Pearson since the beginning of the season.

This line up needs to stay until Gavin is healthy. I like Stevenson over Gio in left until then

Pearson will become a staple in RF from here on out. Or LF if Dugas is out a while. I think it's safe to say a starting spot belong to Pearson now, and Gio has been passed.

And the rant questioned it. I know this sounds crazy, but maybe Johnson knows what he's doing.

I’d like to have both Dugas and Pearson in the lineup

Thanks brother. So when Dugan comes back will Pearson start still (with Dugas and Cews?, if not Pearson then who?) with the other 2 cats?

Probably.

You might see Gio get some mop-up time as a late-inning defensive replacement or a spot start during the week. But I think he may be out as one of the starting 9. You've got to go with the hot hand.

I think we can safely assume that Pearson will see a whole lot of time in RF when Dugas returns.

Gio was the other option in RF, but Pearson has earned the playing time he will get. Berry is the other who has seen a lot of time in RF, but I think that will come to an end now too. Berry looks way more comfortable at third base.

I’m pretty sure he lead the team in doubles in the Fall. There’s a lot to like, he just needs ABs.

Only thing I could see is if Johnson doesn't trust Pearson as much against lefties. But we also don't really have a right handed option either, so there is that. It's basically which left handed bat Johnson thinks is best to face a lefty. That's the only time I think it can be maybe justified for taking Pearson off the field.

I also have no clue what Pearson/Gio's numbers are against left handers, or if there is even a big enough sample size to draw any conclusions with Pearson against them yet.

I agree it was the right move to start Pearson, but we always tend to get ahead of ourselves when discussing lineups for the long haul. A great weekend for him, but if he goes 0 for 12 next weekend with 5 strikeouts, people will be all over Johnson for keeping him in the lineup.

Let's just not get ahead of ourselves because of one weekend.

Pearson was MVP of the Fla. League for college players last summer. His coach of many years in that league said he had never seen a player right out of high school with the physical abilities of Pearson . CJJ wasn't going to leave that talent on the bench long.

He won’t. He will hit. Defense would be his only issue
