I know this is non football/LSU/SEC related but I'd like to share this.

I'd like to thank all of those loved ones who have ever had to tell a veteran goodbye. Whether the goodbye was at the airport, wondering if it may be the last you'll ever tell them or the goodbye said after "taps" knowing it's the last one you'll never share.
The ones I'd really like thank are the ones that may be to young to understand but are losing memories they never got a chance to make.
I write this because, 8 days ago, one of my best friends lost a great friend to an IED in Afghanistan. She became friends with him while she was serving her 2nd tour in Iraq. I had the great pleasure of meeting this Marine 3 years ago, while he was here in Louisiana, visiting my friend.
She lost alot of friends in both Iraq and Afghanistan but this loss was the worst I'd ever seen her expirience and it really hit home for me, especially since I could put a name, face and personality to him.

Thank You to all Veterans and all their friends and family who share their sacrifice. I hope all of you can somehow make up for all the lost time and live long and peaceful lives.
God Bless you all.

For those who'd like to learn more about my the Marine who lost his life in Afghanistan, here is the link. I think once you see who all attended his funeral, you'll understand how great of a man he really was.

as a father of a son who is in the marines, my heart goes out to your friend. It saddens me to hear another one of these stories. It sounds like she has a good friend, in you, to be there for her. God bless.

My heart goes out to you and your friend. As an AF wife and mother of two I definitely have experience in goodbyes and having to explain why Daddy isn't here for Christmas or a birthday. I know how it feels to wonder if you will hug your loved one for the last time. I don't know how it feels though to get that knock at the door from officers in full dress Blues. My prayers go out to your friend's family and your friend in this time of grief. The best thing that you can do is be there and listen. Just listen, let her talk about her friend, and work through her grief. The more she talks the better the process will be. God bless!!!!

A
Veteran is someone, who at one point in their life, wrote a blank check
payable to the United States of America for an amount up to, and
including, their life. That is beyond honor, and there are way too many
people in this country who no longer remember that fact.
