When LSU has an average or mediocre season and they are starting to add up. Yeah those were dark years but why is this always a crutch that people use to defend the current state of the program? we hear it all the time we'll if you would have been around in the 90's you would appreciate how far we have come Its this attitude that may be returning us to that place. I want to be positive but man can any LSU fan honestly say its not more than 50/50 chance we end up having a good or bad year. Losing top instate recruits to other schools in the 90's contributed to the slide but now we are losing top instate talent to SEC rivals not FSU and ND. If LSU can have a great Year all this will go away but right now there are many LSU fans like myself starting to wonder if the 1990's maybe repeating itself thanks to Questionable decisions from LSU's Current AD.

The Talent level between now and Hallman years are way different imo. The coaching is on par though

I really don’t think it was all Aleva. We know that he tried firing Miles and hiring Jimbo, that was without a doubt confirmed on media days, but I think some of the same people that stopped that hire wanted the “safe” hire in O.

Anyone that thought Jimbo wouldn't be a major thorn in LSUs side at A&M just isn't being honest or just doesn't know football. The 2019 class will be raided if O doesn't win big this year.

Let’s be honest. Hallman has a better record of success as HC before taking over LSU than Ed did.

I still don't care for Bret Farve because of that.

I always suspected Joe Alleva was hired as part of a conspiracy to improve Joe Dean's reputation!

Haven’t even played a game. We might lose 3 this year. Maybe 2, maybe 4. Hallman won 3 or 4 a year. We are 4th in recruiting, 4TH!!!

Take a deep breath, it’s going to be a great year and an incredible class.

Haven't heard this Hallman defense.
I will say Curley looked better on paper when hired than the current LSU coach, though.

I don’t think the comparison to Hallman is right or fair.

A more accurate comparison would be Mike Archer.

Career defensive coach
Cupboard stocked with talent
Tasked with keeping players/recruits in state
Unpopular hire

When you look at this comparison, plus the Charlie Mac to Les Miles comparison, one thing is certain about LSU...they don’t learn from history.

Certainly seems like a possibility. LSU has historically tried to get away with cheap hires who were moderately successful at smaller schools and hoped they flourished with LSU. Coach O may be the worst hire of all, there was no reason to hire him.

The one time LSU decided to put up the cash for a coach, we got Saban.

And with Alleva, we are back to these cheap 'let's hope it works out' hires.

Not a fan of the O hire, but O is no Hallman

If you want to play with the big boys you spend the money.
They did it with Saban and Miles.

With O, LSU went back to the Dinardo model.

We'll see where this ends up.

The good thing is LSU is only one great coach away but it's going to cost more.

If O loses on the field and the trail this will turn nasty quickly.

It’s easy to say he deserves time and let’s give him at least 3 years in the summer.

See how a 5/6 loss season and a subpar recruiting class feels in December.

The fan base is already at odds with the administration. A piss poor showing in ‘18 and heads roll.

U guys must be about 12, Halman was too busy drinking & chasing college girls! Worst coach LSU ever had!

Well our top recruits just all took visits to other schools while our coaches are on an extended vacation.

Does it matter why they’re not getting the job done?

This set us back and if Orgeron fails it will be a disaster for the program. We need him to succeed. If not, we will have to get an up and coming, unproven coach rather than just go get who we want like we could have a few years ago. It still baffles me how we went cheap in a HC yet give a coordinator 2.5 mil a year.

I said the day he was hired that Ed may very well be a mistake that takes a decade to recover from. If he flames out and the recruiting pipeline dries up, it will get ugly fast. And the next hire BETTER be the right one or the pain will only last that much longer.

Based on what? Your opinion?

Hallman never had a winning record while at LSU. Coach 'Shrimp Boat' has already surpassed that in year 1. Our talent level and recruiting is measurably better as are our assistant coaches.
