I don’t know that. I would consider myself to be a member of the cult that worshiped Miles, or that such a thing even existed except in the minds of some members of the Rant such as yourself. I do think it is ironic that you chose to post this when there is thread just below it that talks about expectations for O to keep his job being 10-2, oe even (gasp) 9-3. That is the same thing that had the majority of this board calling for Miles’ ouster. It would also be the fourth year with O at the helm without surpassing what Miles averaged over an 11 year span. Granted, he was starting to tail off at the end, and probably needed a change. But I cannot for the life of me figure out why anyone would feel the need to bash Miles some 3-4 years after he’s gone when he oversaw the best 11 years in LSU history. During the 11 years Miles was our head coach, he won a national championship, got us into another, won 2 SEC titles, and averaged 10 wins a year over the 1o or 11 years he was here. When somebody surpasses that, then dog him all you want. But I believe history will prove to be kinder to him than many on this board, and we will all be looking back on his time here as one of the truly great periods in LSU football history.

And I’m not bashing O, hell I want him to succeed because that means LSU is doing the same. But he hasn’t surpassed Miles’ record yet, lost to Troy, lost to Moo St by the largest margin ever, and only scored 10 points in three games against our biggest rival, and fired the OC responsible for those 10 points. I really hope he gets the desired improvement over the next two years, because if he doesn’t, we will likely be starting to look for another coach.

I’ve probably said too much, but it just pisses me off to come on the board and see people dogging Miles and what he accomplished here. And I’m not a Paul M. fan, and think he needs to go, but you don’t have to smear Miles in calling for a change in baseball coaches
