Considering it was Troy, I was actually surprised as many showed up as did, including the student section. And I was surprised at how many stayed to the bitter end, or close to it, to watch that shite show. Play decent opponents, and act like the team and coaches give a damn, and they will come. Maybe not a sellout every game, but the stadium will be mostly full, and most of them will stay.

With the product on the field so bad, I took time to really observe the atmosphere in the stadium. I'm not a fan of McKay, but he knocked it out of the park with his column linked in another thread. The garish advertising, the loud music, all the other things that have been talked about ad nauseum. Nothing they have done to "modernize" the stadium make it a more pleasant or fan-friendly experience, at least in the lower bowl. I can't speak about the suites or the Stadium Club.

Another observation: the SJW homecoming court was cringeworthy. Why have it at all?

To end this post on a positive note, the band is improving. The halftime show was worth watching. Now if they would just let them play during the game.

The band is the best I've seen. The halftime shows are definitely worth watching now.

It felt like the band played more last night than they have in the past few seasons.

I noticed the SS doesn't stand anymore other than the first 20 rows or so.

This is the first I've noticed this. Has this been going on for awhile?

I'm not too surprised at the crowd. it was a classic "mah first tiger game yall" game.

Auburn will be a really nice crowd given our fan base pays thousands of dollars for one good home game

I usually go to the bottom section where everyone stands up. On up, everyone sits until something big happens.

Yep. I did much the same right after halftime, and couldn't help but think of how much worse of an experience it now is since the early 2000's...and I don't even mean the play on the field.

There's something plastic and gross about so much of it...honestly doesn't feel like Tiger Stadium half the time any more, and I've been going to games since 1982.

And the play is 1999 levels, so that's not helping matters.

People love to watch a good train wreck in process. Plus the tickets are cheap now, as in free.

I stayed the whole game, drank my beers, got my hopes up, let and went to a few sonics to see if I could throw fisticuffs
