Both Ole Miss and Vanderbilt had bye weeks before playing Florida and LSU, respectively. And both lost-- Ole Miss in a huge upset, and Vanderbilt, as a "sexy" upset choice against LSU.

Is having a bye week really an advantage against an opponent who had to play a game the week prior?

Lots of teams came out of bye weeks looking like poo poo this year.

The biggest advantage is healing time.

Percentage wise overall I do not believe there is a major benefit either way.

Heres some stats if someone wants to calculate it LINK

in a year with two byes it's not that big a deal
next year it's back to one bye and it's gonna be a grind

I wish LSU would get rid of bye before Bama

I don’t think it is.
If SEC CG is on 12/6/25, that’s a 2 bye week schedule.
Week 1 is 8/30/25

Oklahoma had a bye before playing Bama and they beat the shite out of them. Vandy had a bye before Bama as well and beat them. A bye week is used to get guys healthy and gives you an extra week to gameplan, so of course it is an advantage. Now if the team doesn't use that week to properly gameplan, then it doesn't really matter.

LSU vs Alabama, for one, but LSU also had a bye before Ole Miss, and played their best game of the season!
