The only people that think isn't unfair are Alabama fans and a few people on ESPN pushing for a playoff.

Alabama is great team! I always thought they had the best shot at beating LSU.

But I have always believed it was unfair for LSU to beat Alabama twice and Alabama only had to beat LSU once and neither game played in Tiger Stadium.

But they beat them already. LSU should want to play for the NC and shouldn't care too much about who they have to play but there is no particular reason why they would want to defeat someone twice. They proved they could already.

This is the difference between Saban and Miles distilled perfectly. The process approach is that the only thing that matters is you executing on every play no matter who is lined up against you...

Oh please, you act like Nick Saban invented this coach speak and the only coach that insist his players buy into it.

Just admit that you were given a mulligan and it paid off for the tide at LSU's expense.

At the very least the rematch should have been held in Tiger Stadium!

"Oh, that would be unfair"

I won't admit anything when I clearly think your points are absurd. And until LSU lost, everyone was saying the Superdome was as good as home field for LSU. Suddenly, when Alabama bought out half of the seats, it changed. If it had been in Baton Rouge, the same thing would have happened. And Alabama would have had the same game plan. And so would LSU.

Alrighty, then. If you guys don't think the LSU players, coaches, and fans didn't want to get 3 in a row on Saban...get the crystal ball...and go undefeated for the first time in school history..we'll agree to disagree.

They could have won 3 in a row next year and Alabama's appearance in that game is incidental to its being for the BCSNC and presenting a chance for an undefeated season. None of these goals were imperiled by the possibility that Alabama not be chosen to go.

Having said that, they should have put all of these thoughts out of their minds once the game was set.

Your continued use of the term "unfair" lets me know that we will never reach anywhere on this conversation. Young nieces and nephews whine about things being "unfair". The system is what it is, and until you remove the emotional attachment you have or appreciate the fact that "fairness" and "unfairness" are not factors to consider...I'm out. It was nice talking with you, and have a great day.

You want to see LSU play Bama for several reasons.

1) the money for SEC teams is split during the bowl season.
SEC made a mint!!!

2) Bama was without question the second best team in the country.

3) Who would LSU fans want to see din the BCS?
LSU first , then any SEC team. Show the country why we are the best conference in the USA.
Show that our teams should be ranked in the top 10 every year without question.

I don't think it was unfair, Alabama was second best team in nation IMO and the opinions of coaches across nation. Wasn't just ESPN

All that is real is easy for you to say when you are the beneficiary; and Alabama fans are some of the biggest whiners out there.

I haven't commented on LSU fans whining. I only said Alabama fans are real good at it too for much lesser reasons.

what a hoot....a gump talking about a "sense of pride." you guys got a mulligan and you know it. to your teams credit, they played the mulligan flawlessly. only problem is....a real man with a "sense of pride" knows full well that a mulligan is "nothing more than a lie." five out of seven computers used in the bcs had bama #3 behind #2 OkState and #1 LSU. OkState was the winner of a conference ranked stronger than the SEC and beat more ranked teams than bama. you won nothing....you were "given" multiple shots to beat LSU at the expense of a team with a better resume and the credibility of the game. kiss my fricking arse and put your "sense of pride" up yours.

Agree. The simple fact is it's easier to get up for an opponent that you've lost to than for one you've beaten already.

You guys act like big pussies. You didn't want to play Bama again because you knew we were the best team in the country and knew you might get dominated and you did. The game wasn't even as close as the scoreboard showed. We earned our right to play in the game and I'm sorry that your team wasn't good enough to bring home the crystal football. Good luck next year.

LSU didn't want to play Alabama again.

It wasn't fair that they should have had to, and many talking heads and college fans I know said as much repeatedly... Not many people liked the rematch.

I know I know, its all over now.

I just think that's the real underlying issue of such a lopsided game.

Alabama wanted to play LSU badly, and LSU would have much preferred to play Alabama next year in BR.

Alabama didn't recieve any real consequences from losing at home to a division rival that went undefeated.

LSU coaches and players could never admit these feelings in the public eye(as if they had a choice anyways), but if I am an LSU player, why would I want to play Alabama a 2nd time for all the marbles?

LSU played in the SEC championship game (an extra game), While Alabama sat at home fueling their fire.

Alabama won fairly, but the game should have never been played...

When I am old, that's my story

A lot of what you say is true. Bobby Bowden said practically the exact same thing on an interview on Miami radio last week.

He said in 1996, FSU did not want to play UF again. He said he had to act like he was happy to play them again, but he was not. He said he would have rather have played any team in the country other than UF. He made a lot of the same points you did. UF was mad and had a month to practice harder because they were so mad and upset. He said there was just no way for FSU to feel the same after they had already beaten UF and it was a big advantage to UF.

Anyway, I mostly agree with your post.

I know for a fact that many people think LSU was the beneficiary of "unfairness" in both 2003 and 2007. Funny how then, it was justified and people were absurd for thinking otherwise.

I have absolutely no patience for victims. Play the hand you were given. Potential and what if is a folly of the weak.
