The Tigers will hit “some, but not much” during camp weeks leading up to scrimmages, Orgeron said. LSU coach Les Miles was known for a live collision drill called “Big Cat,” in which a player from offense and defense would collide with one another while circled by teammates and coaches.

Orgeron has eliminated that from practices.

These boys are playing at an sec school. They aren't soft and know how to make contact. They don't need a stupid drill to enforce that. Give this drill to JV teams in high school, it's a waste of time at this level.

ETA: dumbest drill ever is the one where you lay on your back and get up faster than the other guy to make the tackle. Never understood that shite haha

It was a pointless drill. It did always amuse me how obsessed with it the rant was

That's good, it was getting old and some players took it too far

It was a waste of time because the entire team except for two was just standing around.

It was telling of how the season would go. I remember the 2013 offense destroying the defense in big cat that year and we had a great offense and bad defense. Then flip it for 2014

Good. Bull in the ring or 1 V 1 tackling has its place with younger kids to develop toughness and aggression. That show is just a stupid waste of practice time

Big Cat drill made sense in a Les offense, when 80% of the plays were runs up the middle
