re: The backjudge is the culprit

Go rewatch the play. There is a line judge within 10 yards of Wing looking directly at him through the entire thing
And of course:
A) He couldn't have possibly been looking down to make sure that Wing didn't step out of bounds
and
B) The line judge's view was exactly the same as the back judge's view and he just decided to pass on it
I'm glad you cleared that up for me.
Thanks.

Sarcasm does exist, my friend. Seriously, it's like telling someone "Nice job, a-hole." Doesn't really mean you think he did a nice job.

Obviously you didn't catch Jordy.

The officials SHOULD stand up to this kind of bullshite. Any infraction that doesn't affect the play should never take points off the board, period. There is no way in hell as an official I would have followed through with that call.
Hopefully the folly of taking points off the board for a fraction of a second "demonstration" will now be illuminated and this will never happen to a team again.
The Locker call was even more ridiculous IMO. If these celebration or taunting rules are going to be called, they better damn well be called evenly and not open to interpretation. I have seen much much worse.

There were several gestures made during the course of this game that were more flagrant than the one flagged. Just imagine how ridiculous it can become.
I would love for you to provide a link to this. I love this punter and think it's a bullshite rule but the right call was made.

Dude, you are a ref apologist and there is no denying it. I expected you to have an excuse. I'm glad you haven't seen the play, because I don't have to hear some dumbass justification for the call.
If you have actually watched the punt replay or watched it live, you would have caught the discussion of the illegal formation penalty. They were literally discussing the the phantom penalty as the ball was snapped.

I didn't. I stopped paying attention to Jordy about 15 years ago.

Unfortunately they get no say in the matter.
Your ire should be directed at the coaches, they are the ones who wanted it to be penalized live ball.

Are you fricking kidding me!!!!!!!

Sure they do. To flag or not to flag.

not to flag.

If that's what quoting rules and officiating philosophy is called, tehn I suppose that would make me guilty.
I don't need to provide excuses for anything. If they missed it they missed it. That happens, it's part of the game.

Unfortunately I don't get the CBS feed at my seat and Lyn and Greg may actually be more clueless than Verne and Gary, but again that's beside the point. Like I told you, I haven't seen it. Sorry.

If not for the fact that his eyes are clearly visible and NOT looking downward, I might buy this nonsense.

So, he had to have EXACTLY the same view as the dickwad to notice an "egregious" taunt?
Let's do a little exercise. Have someone stand 15 yards directly in front of and facing you and extend their arms to their side. Can you see his arms extended? Now have that person turn around 180 degrees (around the z-axis so you don't use that as an excuse) and extend his arms. Can you see them? Wow, that's some fricking parallax, man.

You really don't have any clue how this works.

Okay, then fire the rest of the crew for not throwing a flag. Oh, I'm sorry, the rest of them were deaf, blind, and buried 20 feet in sand when the play happened, so they're excused.

Are you really going to try to tell me that the SEC fires refs for missing calls?

I highly doubt any supervisor will go heavy handed on any of them for passing on that.

It really makes no difference what you do or don't buy.

What does "egregious" have to do with anything?
You can talk about an x axis or z axis or whatever you like, but it doesn't change the fact that there was a taunt. Simple.

Have the dozens of officials who let things as ba or worse than Locker or Wing's acts go without flagging been fired?
