The 4 greatest areas of concern for LSU football before preseason practice Thursday

With preseason practices starting on Thursday, here's a look at what LSU's four greatest concerns are:
The offensive line.
LSU's projected starting offensive line includes a freshman at left tackle, small school transfers at both guard spots, a center who has made one career start and a right tackle who isn't guaranteed to keep his job. That might be a pessimistic outlook on the surface but it highlights a glaring problem: a lack of proven experience.
Keeping the cornerbacks healthy.
LSU's starting cornerbacks could be a respectable group.Jarrick Bernard-Converse started his last 47 games at Oklahoma State before transferring; Sevyn Banks had seven tackles in the national championship game in 2020; Greg Brooks Jr. has three years of SEC starting experience; and according to Kelly, Mekhi Garner is a future NFL talent. But an injury or step in the wrong direction for any of them could send LSU's defense into a downward spiral, especially given how many quality quarterbacks and passing attacks there are in the SEC.
Developing continuity within the offense.
Having a variety of quality options and playing styles at quarterback is by in large a good thing. But it can become a problem when no one is established as the starter and the offense is breaking in a new coach, offensive coordinator and offensive line, among other things.
Finding the right mix at both linebacker spots.
When Kelly spoke with The Advertiser following spring practices, he was upbeat when it came to his linebacking corps. And given LSU's depth at the position, he should be.But even with so many options, LSU doesn't have a settled hierarchy within that group. For example, Baskerville, despite being a returning starter, mostly worked with the second team during spring. Kelly also said he and defensive coordinator and linebackers coach Matt House were still searching for a consistent producer at weakside linebacker. Although he hinted toward Perkins, who wasn't with the team during the spring, potentially filling that role.

O line concerns me the most. We have all seen LONG seasons when the OL struggles. Worries me.

Yep. With our skill position talent any QB can be successful… if the OL holds up.
On paper it should be a strength but the older blue chippers have to step up: Dellinger, Dumervil, Thomas, Bradford
Just found out Ray Parker was dismissed for kicking a puppy… dumbass thug

These are quality replacements but it does ring similar.

after watching Jordy Cullotta's (s?) interview with Brad Davis I am not as concerned about the OL as I was before. At least they are in good hands with regards to a serious, competent coach who can develop them.

Kelly has been knowing who the starting QB was since March but there is no advantage in announcing it early, it actually makes it harder for Florida St. to prepare for LSU not knowing the starting QB

Didn't you just post about "three concerns" the other day?
Yep, that was you. You're just a ray of sunshine, aren't you?

The offseason is ALWAYS time for great optimism. I suspect if you did a search from August posts in 2020 and 2021 you would find a lot of the same optimism that we see now.
The reality is no one can really be sure what the OL will look like. LSU has one blue chip freshman, two transfers who have performed well at lower levels, but never faced SEC talent week to week, and several returning players who have snaps, but have ever really stood out in prior seasons.
COULD the OL be really good? Absolutely. But that group is probably the most concerning going to the season because without solid play by them the QBs, WRs, RBs are going to be very limited in what they can accomplish.
