Which is kind of dumb when you consider he could have had both.

Large schools could have tried this before yet haven’t.

Recently, I think fewer HS kids taken in the first few rounds are going to college.
Because there are $$ penalties for teams failing to sign picks in the top 10 rounds. So outside of very rare exceptions teams won’t even pick a player in the first few rounds if they aren’t relatively certain they can be signed. That’s why Bregman dropped to the 29th round and not the 3rd.

I mean in the last 7 college World Series they have won 2 titles and finished runner up twice so I wouldnt shite on them too much.

Honest question.

Has Vandy had a player advantage or coaching advantage over the rest of NCAA baseball the last 7 years?

that says ONLY offers partial scholarships. Baseball isn't restricted to that, a school can offer a full ride in baseball. most don't but there isn't any rule against it.

The paid coach limit is one of the dumber things the NCAA has done. Will be very happy to be rid of it.

Not if the scholarship money he gave up can help the team get one or two players that they didn’t have scholarship money for before he did that.

You are only allowed to have a certain amount of players on scholarship (normal year it’s 27 not sure what it is now because of Covid). By not receiving scholarship money he goes into the “walk on” category.

Raph Rhymes did this his senior year at LSU.

Is this for real? Are you under the impression that money just went back to LSU instead of being redistributed to 1 or more of his current teammates? I don’t see how anybody would jump to see it through a dumb/smart lens regardless, but I’d call it selfless before anything, and something you’d love to see from the best player on the team.

Interesting comments from Jay this morning with TBob and Hester. They asked him who were some of the vocal leaders on the team, and he said there really aren’t that many (which is what it is, but it’s one thing I’ve suggested is a weakness of this current team due to its relative youth). But, he said Dylan, who’s not normally very vocal, has been speaking up lately and guys are listening (because he’s the best player on the team and such a good person, according to Jay). I’m not sure how much of a difference that can/will make for this year’s team, but it definitely bodes very well for next year’s.
