Yes, I am indeed glad we wound up with more points than Georgia.

But Georgia, while hard workers, isn't extremely talented--at least across the board.Honestly on their last possession I just knew they were going to throw it back out and drain a 3 at the horn.

Georgia got hot but still we just looked so bad. The brick free throws and then letting them roll a bowl 55 feet in bounds instead of having someone press them. Just mind blowing.

Yet somehow, someway I have a feeling we'll give Oklahoma all they want. I cannot figure this team out.

What about the time out?

Oh, it was like some 1960's "Spalding Guide" film about what not to do in the last minute. All we needed was ESPN to go to some grainy feed with some periodic stripes down the middle and someone like Chris Schenkel narrating it.

I have no problem with that TO. Sometimes you have to talk to your guys and get them refocused.

Obviously they should never have lacked focus to begin with, but at the time, calling a TO to regroup was something that was needed.

Should have been traveling actually, but you have to press the ball

I really want to believe that part of our passive defense in the last minute was because the refs were calling fouls for not getting out of the way of the player dribbling the ball. But, come on, how many baskets did they score in the last minute within 7-8 seconds of their possession? We gave them wide open paths to drive to the goal, we turned it over under out own basket, they hit a couple of threes with a hand in the face. I think UGA scored 14 points in the last 1:10 of the game. Add in a few missed free throws with a turnover and it got really dangerous for the Tigers.

If the last minute of the game last night vs UGA left a bad taste in your mouth, go watch the highlights from the Virginia/Wake Forest game. It will make you feel a whole lot better.....and fortunate.

Just because you're ignorant of a situation doesn't mean anything.

You can think they're not talented, but Charles Mann was an all-sec player as a sophomore, gaines is one of the best shooters in the sec, and Frazier is one of the best PG's.

When you're up 11 with 50 seconds to go, you have a simple philosophy: Don't foul, make free throws. Frazier hit 2 contested 30 foot 3's and we missed some key FT's. The way the refs called the game, you could not contest any layups.

I love that LSU fans are so demeaning of other teams and are so quick to point out "how bad they are."

In that situation, if the guy you are guarding gets around you, you just let him go because you don't want to foul, especially close to the basket to give up a possible 3 point play.

The key to all of this is to hit your free throws and not turn the ball over.

Things got tight because of that one 5 point swing where we turned the ball over under their basket, not making free throws, and them hitting long 3s.

The defense really wasn't the issue. It could have been better, but without the turnover and hitting free throws, it would have all been mute.

This team doesn't play "smart". With right under 3 minutes left and a 12 point lead they were running down the court out of control...JJ had to tell them to slow it down the next possession. With under 2 minutes UGA looked content to allow us to burn clock...then the last minute and a half happened. That turnover by Victor looked like he didn't give a frick.

It was pretty stupid to allow them to roll the ball across half court to the timeline. all a defender had to do was extend out and make them pick up the ball sooner...I have NEVER seen a team allow that.

No what happened was everyone thought game was over and we looked lackadaisical dribbling around. We let up and they pressed the gas. I'm glad we won but as a coach I would hate to see my players let up that severely. Although Johnny put his coat on and somewhat gave that same message so who knows. Glad we won. It was great effort until that moment

The inability to consistently close out games in the past two years is maddening.

What? Running the clock was not the issue

The issue, on the offensive end, was the inbound pass and missing free throws.

"Dribbling around" didn't hurt us at all

We decided the game was over with a minute and a half to play and watched UGA get uncontested layup after layup and 3 pointer meanwhile we were going 1/2 from the line each trip down.

There is absolutely NO EXCUSE for that timeout! That is coaching 101! The other team, the team that is on OFFENSE, had no timeouts! You never, ever, ever call a timeout to set up your defense that allows the other team to draw up a last minute play on OFFENSE! The only scenario where this wouldn't be a travesty would be if you felt that you had a horrible mismatch on the floor and needed to make a defensive substitution.
