Great as a freshman but after not so much. I wish him well.

Why because he is looking out for the best interest of his son and not LSU or it’s sorry arse fans that bash players when they get hurt?

Was he really ever that good to begin with?

Absolutely. Still is.

Nagging injuries and a shitty coordinator hurt him but he's still going to be a top ten pick.

It's been a pleasure watching this kid play.

But has it, really? I honestly can't point to more than 3 games in Stingley's career where I stood up, flipped my cap from my head and shook my head in athletic amazement. You know, the stuff you did for TM14, TM7 and PP7. No doubt he'll be coveted in the NFL as a Deion Sanders type, but for actually putting in a lunch pale, hard hat performance in college...I really haven't seen the TM7 type dog in him that matches the high praise and hype.

If this comes off as hate then I apologize because you can see the next-level skills, just haven't seen that really translate to 60 mins of play week in week out.

ETA: But I will admit that there have been a good amount of games where Stingley Jr. only gets mentioned like 5 times, so that means the offense is staying away from him. So maybe that's the best compliment you can give a CB so my post above is not warranted. I might be the first poster in TD history to call myself out for a kinda shitty post. This kid was an enigma at times which was frustrating as a fan though, that I know for sure.

What most people are talking about is what occurred last year and how his play drastically changed on the field from 2019. Clearly the focus was not 100% on football last year and it should have been. The kid can act the way he likes and do what he likes but when his play is affected by his actions then fans will be disappointed in him only because it’s clear how talented he is but it was also clear that effort was not given last year for whatever reason. That started everything. Then not practicing with the team for the entire offseason whether it be from injury or not, he didn’t even show up.

His first game this season was not even close to what he had showed 2 years ago so of course people will start to think that his actions have indeed affected his play. Then he comes out and shows us a great game and a half, now he’s hurt again. No he can’t help getting hurt BUT usually when your effort starts to lack, injuries follow and other negative things start to pile up. It’s never good to get out of your rhythm as a player and he clearly did that for whatever reason.

Coach Pelini didn’t coach him to tackle with little effort or to start worrying about off the field issues instead of just staying with football. It’s fine if you want to concern yourself with off the field issues in a positive way while also giving the same effort on the field but when thousands of fans hear and see you have a negative view of things then follow that up with negative play, people will assume that they’re related and they’re likely correct. Simply because he’s a young man and very emotional at that age, we know because we’ve experienced it and we’ve let that affect us in some way but we also never had the talent and support that he does. I guess it’s just disappointing to people that someone with his talent wouldn’t take complete advantage of it and perform the way he did as a freshman. He is on a downward slope right now, even if he never did have this injury and I totally believe he’s hurt and can’t perform. He wasn’t for most of last year.
